It was just three years ago when the nation was introduced to former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, when Arizona Sen. John McCain announced that she would be his running mate in the 2008 presidential election.
Since then shes become something of a phenomenon. But would she have had what it takes to be vice president if McCain won in 2008? Former Vice President Dick Cheney isnt quite willing to say that.
/snip/
Cheney: Well Ive never gotten around the question of her having left the governorship of Alaska midterm, Cheney said. Ive never heard that adequately explained so that I could understand why, how she decided in her first term to step down and still be Id like to know more about that.

I never heard of anyone quitting an Ivy League school to go to a small state University being nominated and winning VP, either. These things happen, don;t they Richard?
Politically, the man has won in his own name an election to the U.S. House of Reps. You might also add that he helped W. more than he hurt (unlusual for a VP pick).
Nonetheless, this hardly makes him much more than yet another Criswell in a world of Criswells.
1. We had no good reason to go in. Except in Afghanistan for a short bit to blow the heck out of Al Qaeda.
2. We did not muster sufficient troops.
3. We did not have a clear exit strategy.
I'd like to know more about that.
Gov Palin did not leave mid term, and she has explained and explained and explained and explained why she resigned.
I like Cheney, however the last few weeks he is pi$$ing me off.
VP Cheney is a great man!
He ought to read GOING ROGUE to better understand.
People still trying to make hay out of this innocuous quote. It means nothing and is hardly definitive on what Chaney thinks. Complete waste of time distraction.
I like Cheney, but c’mon Dick! I thought Sarah would be you're kinda gal.
BTW,, I like your screen name. Funny
This is revisionist history and untrue.
The DAILY RINO CALLER running interference for Romneycare by regurgitating 5 day old quotes. Yawn.
It always comes down to, is a statement a true statement or a political one?
Either Cheney is motivated by the truth, or he’s motivated by politics.
How long has he been involved in Washington politics?
NICE !
Yawn...I’m not entirely satisfied with her explanation either but would I vote for her? You betcha!
Palin quit early - fair point. But not coming from Cheney who just sat around doing nothing while the country was being ruined. He let his own assistant be convicted of something that everyone knew someone else perpetrated, and he didn’t life a finger. He wishes he was Darth Vader- they should have called him Mickey Mouse.
Personally, I think that old lord McCain sullied her for more than just his own personal gain....'you know' take her out of the national picture while she was getting 'oil' drilled in Alaska... And the GOP establishment along with the pretenders like the haughty Krauthammer scoffed at her wilderness ..ness.. would NOT dirty their hands to vote for her.
And truth be told Cheney has been (OH MY GOODNESS) writing a book and has not exactly been healthy since the last election...
I won’t flame. Sarah will need to ‘splain her leaving the governorship to a skeptical public if she runs. Perhaps a thousand times. Or at least it’ll be asked that many times. (I’ve seen “Undefeated”, and while those of us who love her accept the reasoning, many will NOT accept the reasoning.)
Cheney deserves respect.
Sarah doesn’t have to run for President to be a force for good, and I don’t think she will. She is capable of building a lot of “paybacks” from Congresscritters she helps elect with SarahPAC.
I’m in the middle of reading “In My Time”. The man Cheney is one of the Republican hybrids...who seems to be able to get along with both sides of the GOP’s aisle.
I am nobody’s “bot”. That kind of ad hominem is useful only when people don’t have an argument...
As far as I’m concerned, Sarah was right when she said she was ABO: Anyone but Obama.
Shoot even the kooky Gary Johnson/Ron Paul/Jon Huntsman would be a better President than Hussein. (And there is no way in HELL I’ll vote for any of those three in my primary!)
You know, when you are around te Bushs and Beltway long enough, crazy things get into your head.
Let’s see, if Sarah hadn’t quit she’d be in lawsuits up to her eyeballs and a million in debt - yeah she’d be a contender now.
Something tells me this will go viral.
