Presuming the source is credible and the methodology is sound, Rick Santorum’s grade of F is surprising to me. I know he endorsed Arlen Specter but I thought he stood for strong Conservative values apart from that misstep.

I notice these guys are not just agaisnt illegal immigration, they want to reduce legal immigration, and score candidates lower if they don’t agree. The fact is most folks have no problem with legal immigration. Without it we would have negative population growth, which is a huge problem in every other industrial country.

Michelle Bachmann has the best score, with Herman Cain second. Rick Perry got a failing grade; he is closer to 0bama than to Bachmann. Some of the damage done by 0bama and his pals can be undone, but the ruin which unrestrained immigration will do to this country cannot be undone. Third World immigrants are almost all guaranteed Demonrat socialist voters.

Hack career politicians like Perry pander to “Hispanics” and Muzzies in order to prolong their careers. They will be gone by the time the damage is terminal.

If legal immigration is mostly from Third World countries with absolutely no tradition of individual freedom and limited govt., including Muslim countries, then it would be better that legal immigration stopped also. We don’t need more people who are equipped merely to mow lawns, do menial jobs, get on welfare, and agitate for shariah.

The Declaration of Independence and Constitution were not written by and for Third Worlders. They were not even written by highly cultured Germans and French. They were crafted by British-Americans whose ideas were molded by centuries of struggle against royal and ecclesiastical absolutism.

Rick Perry's position on immigration is mixed. He opposes building a border fence, but supports using the Texas NG and drones to control illegal immigration. Perry's version of the Texas "Dream Act" is troubling too. However, Perry is opposed to amnesty and has said so.

“... if you want to be an American citizen here’s the way you do it… you need to get in line just like everyone else. Go get in that immigration line like everyone who came before you… Now do we want to have sensible immigration policies that allow people who want to come into our state and work… absolutely. Secure that border, have a sensible immigration policy, and if you want to be a citizen of the United States, there’s the line… But to go give 13 million people a citizenship because you came here illegally is… is… Asinine!”

Governor Rick Perry, November.16, 2008.

Well said!!

Reduce current immigration levels from Third World countries and put down the clamps on illegals currently here by madating national use of E-Verify for public and private employers (sorry US Chamber of Commerce) and heavily fining abusers, and no public welfare or grants of any kind (state or federal) for illegals (to include a state approved Dream Act).

Here's what one of true Conservative warriors had to say about immigration. These are the profound words of President Calvin Coolidge from December 1923:

“American institutions rest solely on good citizenship. They were created by people who had a background of self-government. New arrivals should be limited to our capacity to absorb them into the ranks of good citizenship. America must be kept American.

For this purpose it is necessary to continue a policy of restricted immigration. It would be well to make such immigration of a selective nature with some inspection at the source, and based either on a prior census or upon the record of naturalization. Either method would insure the admission of those with the largest capacity and best intention of becoming citizens… Those who do not want to be partakers of the American spirit ought not to settle in America.”

Rick Perry would probably beg to differ.

Michelle Bachmann & Herman Cain are the only real conservatives now running, but the country-club establishment is working out a way to cram another one of two RINOs down our throats. As Ed Rollins says, “it’s a Perry-Romney contest now.”

My daughter inlaw's family are "third world immigrants" (Phillipino). Her parents were hard-working successful people, and she is a 100% American, successful scientist. Only a small percentage of immigrants are Muslim. Far more are non-Muslim Europeans, Asians, Indians, and latin Americans. I would rather have legal immigrants who are willing to work hard to build a better future for their kids, than the half the native young people who seem to feel they are above doing any actual hard work but are entitled to have everything handed to them.

It depends on where the line begins. If it is not in their home country, then it is an amnesty. The Left and the RINOs like to say that the 12 to 20 million illegals must pay a fine, learn English, and get to the back of the line on an earned path to citizenship. This is amnesty.

Rick Perry’s record on immigration isn’t as bad as I thought. It’s worse! … It’s not just that he doesn’t want to build the border fence. Many fence opponents argue (though I disagree) that it’s far more important to take away the “jobs magnet” that lures illegals to try to cross the border in the first place. But Perry hasn’t supported the quickest, best way to take away the jobs magnet, which is to require all private employers to use the “E-Verify” electronic check of Social Security numbers. Perry wouldn’t even require his own state government to use E-Verify, let alone private employers, declaring “E-Verify would not make a hill of beans’ difference when it comes to what’s happening in America today.” ….

"That’s why I support a guest worker program that takes undocumented workers off the black market and legitimizes their economic contributions without providing them citizenship status.

I would rather know who is crossing our border legally to work instead of not knowing who is crossing our border illegally to work. A guest worker program that provides foreign workers with an ID removes the incentive for millions of people to illegally enter our country. It also adds those workers to our tax base, generates revenue for needed social services and it can be done without providing citizenship.

There’s nothing in Perry’s grand statement to suggest he’d apply this remedy only to new immigrants. Quite the contrary–he’s bringing “undocumented” workers “off the black market,” which would seem to mean giving “guest worker” status to the millions of existing “undocumented”–i.e., illegal–immigrants.

Legalization that stops short of citizenship is still legalization, of course. It still sends a signal that if you somehow get across the border–legally or not–you will get to stay and work and raise a family. If that isn’t a huge “incentive for millions of people to illegally enter our country,” I don’t know what is. ..

Governor Rick Perry, November.16, 2008

A prudent person takes Perry with a bag of salt. He is a consummate politician who knows the right things to say.

However, his actions tell the real story. On a personal level, I like Rick, but I won't vote for him as long as there are other choices.

Perry wants us to believe he is a powerless, innocent by-stander and that the millions of illegals occupying Texas are the Feds fault........

That reminds me of a curious aspect of Perry's political life.....an unbroken string of elections wins for years on end. He's even refused to debate his opponents. How does Perry do it?

QUESTIONS PERRY SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO ANSWER

<><> Have you made deals with illegal aliens (1) to exchange campaign cash and votes for gratuities, (2) to use your office to get illegals US govt handouts?

<><> Did you promise illegals tax paid-free education, EITC, welfare, food stamps, UI, SS, SSI, healthcare, sub-prime mortgages, subsidized bank loans in exchange for votes?

<><> Do you know this is a felony?

<><> Do you know which identity illegals use to register to vote for you?

<><> Do you know illegals who qualify for Texas in-state tuition may also be eligible for state aid?

<><> Do you know that ‘state aid’ to illegals is paid for by American citizens?

======================================

El Ricardo Perrynista receives a Mexican blanket from Gov Enrique Martinez,
Coahuila, Mexico as a token of appreciation for passing the Texas Dream Act.

Did Perry also receive promises of votes for facilitating tax dollar giveaways to illegals?

The U.S. adds one international migrant (net) every 36 seconds. Immigrants account for one in 8 U.S. residents, the highest level in more than 80 years. In 1970 it was one in 21; in 1980 it was one in 16; and in 1990 it was one in 13. In a decade, it will be one in 7, the highest level in our history. And by 2050, one in 5 residents of the U.S. will be foreign-born.

Currently, 1.6 million legal and illegal immigrants settle in the country each year; 350,000 immigrants leave each year, resulting in net immigration of 1.25 million. Since 1970, the U.S. population has increased from 203 million to 310 million, i.e., over 100 million. In the next 40 years, the population will increase by 130 million. Three-quarters of the increase in our population since 1970 and the projected increase will be the result of immigration. The U.S., the world’s third most populous nation, has the highest annual rate of population growth of any developed country in the world, i.e., 0.977% (2010 estimate), principally due to immigration.

87 percent of the 1.2 million legal immigrants entering annually are minorities as defined by the U.S. Government and almost all of the illegal aliens are minorities. By 2019 half of the children 18 and under in the U.S. will be classified as minorities and by 2039, half of the residents of this country will be minorities. Generally, immigrants and minorities vote predominantly for the Democrat Party. Hence, Democrats view immigration as a never-ending source of voters that will make them the permanent majority party.

The latest data show 22.1 million immigrants holding jobs in the U.S. with an estimated 8 million being illegal aliens. By increasing the supply of labor between 1980 and 2000, immigration reduced the average annual earnings of native-born men by an estimated $1,700 or roughly 4 percent. Among natives without a high school education, who roughly correspond to the poorest tenth of the workforce, the estimated impact was even larger, reducing their wages by 7.4 percent. The reduction in earnings occurs regardless of whether the immigrants are legal or illegal, permanent or temporary. It is the presence of additional workers that reduces wages, not their legal status.

The Bureau of Labor statistics for August 2011 show a national unemployment rate of 9.1 percent, including 16.7 percent for blacks and 11.3 percent for Hispanics. 25 million Americans are seeking full-time employment. Despite the economic downturn, the U.S. continues to bring in 125,000 new, legal foreign workers a month. This includes new permanent residents (Green Cards) and long-term temporary visas and others who are authorized to take a job. This makes no sense.

57% of immigrant headed households are on welfare. Massive low-skill immigration works to counteract government anti-poverty efforts. While government works to reduce the number of poor persons, low-skill immigration pushes the poverty numbers up. In addition, low-skill immigration siphons off government anti-poverty funding and makes government efforts to shrink poverty less effective. Milton Friedman said, “You cannot simultaneously have free immigration and a welfare state.” We have both.
