Confirmed: Perry scheduled to leave wildfires for GOP debate

HOUSTON -- At the moment, Rick Perry's camp confirms the governor still plans to participate in Wednesday night's GOP debate in California.
The governor's campaign just released his schedule showing two events in California after the debate. It appears he will leave the wildfires to appear Wednesday night in California and will continue on with planned fundraisers Thursday and Friday. It appears his brief break from campaigning hasn't hurt.

I don’t think we’ll know until tomorrow if he’ll attend. If they are contained in the populated areas he’ll be there but last I heard they hadn’t been yet.
And nah...perry will be critisized no matter what decision he makes. Life of a frontrunner.

I wasn't slamming him; I was actually sitting up a little straighter watching. I thought the call of tending to his state vice the debate was noble (yeah, yeah, politics mixed in..but...); but as cripplecreek pointed out, Doesn't Texas have a Lt. Governor?
Maybe while the news outlets were frothing, they (Gov and Lt. Gov) were getting the game plan in order to manage BOTH the state's problems and time management for the debates.
/damn, I can't believe I'm sticking up for the guy..

It’s not as though he can’t stay up to date through email, text, or phone.
And it only requires a signature to rubberstamp whatever government funds are required, once the Texas legislature passes the bills, he can fly back to Texas right after the debates and sign those bills.
It’s not as though this is his 19th golf game of the year, right?

I am no Perry fan at all, but since he entered the race, he should spend a couple hours at the debate.
He isn’t fighting the fires himself as Governor. He isn’t off for a two week vacation at Martha’s Vineyard.
People should pick on things that really matter instead of sniping over stuff like this.
