Coulter on Palin: Let’s face it, she’s probably not electable

Interesting segment, not because Coulter’s advancing any new criticisms of Palin but because she’s willing to acknowledge openly the political risk on the right in criticizing her in the first place. According to Coulter, conservatives refuse to challenge Palin publicly because they don’t want to deal with the hate mail from her supporters. That’s part of it, I’m sure — by now, all columnists and bloggers know what awaits after criticizing Palin or, say, Ron Paul — but I suspect the better part is that there’s simply no faster ticket to RINOville among some grassroots conservatives than uttering a discouraging word about Sarah. It’s the ultimate “one of us” litmus test; not even a right-winger as stalwart and confrontational as Coulter is immune, apparently, from the inevitable establishment/RINO/sellout/”Beltway cocktail party” nonsense afterward. That said, I’m curious why she’s speaking up now. Has she reached the point where she just doesn’t care anymore? Or is she so worried about the election that she’s willing to lose some fans in the interest of maximizing the GOP’s advantage?

Exit quotation: “She’s become sort of the Obama of the tea party, she’s just ‘The One’ to a certain segment of right-wingers.” Click the image to watch.

To: who knows what evil?

Could that be part of Sarah’s plan, to flush out and expose the pretenders?

Make sure you read Palin’s speech in Iowa. I think someone posted the entire text here in FR. It’s a manifesto. It’s long. She gives a 5-point plan for getting us out of our mess. No one today but Palin could put together the collection of ideas and inspiration she showed us in Iowa.

A major purpose of the speech seems to me to be that she wants us to know who we’d be getting if we elected her.

Do you really care if she’s “goproud” or trying to marginalize Pallin. Fair’s fair. If or when SP jumps in is an academic exercise. She’s reminding all those “centrists” that there is a HUGE conservative voice they need to listen to. They didn’t really get the message in 2010. If we ask ourselves the question of results from 2010 we would really have to answer : not enough. Listening to Hoffa’s rhetoric and the lack of response from the guy who wants us to have a more civilized dialogue. So go Sarah keeping them wondering is keeping them off balance and desperate.

My “inquisition” of Coulter began years ago. She’s funny sometimes, and she writes a good stick, but in a lot of ways she is (and has always been) more interested in generating headlines and publicity for herself than in moving Conservatism forward.

IT's a topsy-turvy world. Tammy Bruce is a strong supporter of Palin.

Correct. Let's move on. Palin is not going to be electable.

Yeah, you're most probably correct, and I hate it.

What bothers so many here (including me) is that Palin did next to nothing to put herself in that position.

In fact, it's quite the opposite. Palin was, and is, a breath of fresh air. She is just the kind of citizen-politician that the Founders envisioned. When I saw her acceptance speech for the VP nomination, I knew I was looking at a natural heir to Reagan.

But the McCain machine damaged her. And then the MSM damaged her. Too high a hill to climb now. It's very unfair to Palin, and it's unjustified, but it's just too high a hill.

The liberal media would attack and try to destroy Palin and her family. Frankly, Palin would be a wonderful Secretary of the Interior under Rick Perry or other GOP candidate.

I like Coulter. I find her fascination with Chris Cristie a bit odd, but I sure like how she gets fired up. Yet, there is no question, one gender identity political litmus test which is just about as reliable as I’ve ever seen is the correlation between gayness, and opposing Palin.

Gender confused go absolutely flighty about Palin.

It’s like an ink-blot test. The gayer, the more reflexively they go all bubblebrain.

Palin brings out in the gender confused community every “-ism” they claim to oppose.

Especially sexism.

I’d bet if you polled only gay people, not even a statistically significant percent would say they support Palin. Despite the fact she’s a truly strong woman (feminism), who does not discriminate (tolerance), who believes in being kind (what liberal pretend to be).

It’s inexplicable, but no question ... Palin is gay kryptonite.

I’m really not at the point of thinking Coulter is gay. But it’s odd for her to respond this way to someone by all rights she should be going to bat for.

Any 3rd party effort will wind up with another 4 years of Obama, or perhaps for life. But think of the satisfaction it will bring you, knowing you made your whole country go down the drain and the ruination of the greatest society every invented, all for spite.

[Isn’t questioning anything about Palin’s electablity punishable by death on FR?]

Everyone is free to question her electability by voting in the primaries four or five months from now like good citizens rather than resting on the lorals of the party annointed. Annointed politicians like Dole and McCain work out so well after all.

Or are some people afraid of actual elections?

Peggy Noonan, Laura Ingram, and Ann Coulter are cut of the same cloth as Karl Rove. They’re establishment politicos and commentators who have found their gravy train.

They’re very comfortable, and Sarah Palin has a nasty tendency to afflict the comfortable.

I find it funny and ironic that one female political commentator of note to back Sarah 100%+ is Tammy Bruce.
