There (sic) decision not to feature a singular response to President Obama's speech on job creation on Thursday shows that Republicans don't expect there to be much to respond to, Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) said Wednesday.
"I suspect what it means is that the Speaker does not expect to hear much to respond to," Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) said on Fox News. "So far there's no indication that anything extraordinary is going to happen in what should be an extraordinary moment calling a joint session of Congress to make new economic proposals after you've already been president for two and a half years."
On Tuesday, House Speaker John Boehner's (R-Ohio) office announced that there would be no singular Republican response to Obama's speech in front of a joint session of Congress on Thursday in which Obama plans to unveil new plans for job creation.
"Every Member of Congress, and more importantly - the American people, will provide a reaction to the presidents address," Boehner spokesman Michael Steel said Tuesday in a statement.
In response, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) called the GOP's decision not to offer a formal response "disrespectful."
"I think we'll see if the speech deserves a response. My guess is that the Speaker's right," Blunt continued. "There'll be plenty of time on Friday to respond. Let's see what the president says on Thursday night and then believe me, there'll be plenty of time to respond."
I like this kind of Republican Party now :)
This is a smart move, one I can scarcely credit the RNC with thinking of all on their own. Best to let the liar prove himself a fool, instead of confronting the liar and be attacked as racists.
GOP wisely doesn’t want to be blamed for pre-empting part of the NFL opener.
On Friday, Jay Carney will look at the ratings for the NFL game and claim that “100 million people tuned in” to hear Obama speak..
In response, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) called the GOP’s decision not to offer a formal response “disrespectful.”
Since very few Americans have any respect for Obama......
They know O will bloviate right up to the scheduled kick-off time. No thanks.
That's all they need to say.
He will want a new "stimulus" of $300 billion. The only things his plans stimulate is a deeper recession headed for a depression.
...and folks, that's the intent. He has no desire to fix America. He wants to fundamentally alter it (just as he has said on numerous occassions) by destroying the free market economy. And hes well on the way to doing so.
“Joint address” alright. You’ll need to smoke a couple to stomach this idiot.
Pelosi is peeved off and I wish DeMint would run for POTUS and what the ....Dana Perino says he should go to Obama’s speech?!
Oh, but I’m sure Sarah Palin will respond!
So, how many times is Mr. Obama going to say, “Let me be clear,” during his BIG speech?
Right after he says that, everything becomes as clear as mud. He speaks in these sweeping generalities. He never talks on the dot about what he is proposing.
No response to this speech is necessary. It will be the oral equivalent of a blivet. Ya’ll know what that is, right?

Great strategy. A GOP response would only dignify His Lowness.
Yeah I tend to agree.iIf they do it,it had better be blunt and alss adding instead of fixing the mess Obama created he is to busy declaring war on the American people via the mob union.
A GOP response would be during kick off. Now Pelosi is mad because they are not taking the bait.
Wow someone that can’t spell posted my last post lol
Yeah I tend to agree. If they do it,it had better be blunt and also adding instead of fixing the mess Obama created he is too busy declaring war on the American people via the mob union.
GOP Response = Back to the NFL Opener !
I think responding before the NFL Game is a mistake.
