Schumer: Some Republicans "want the economy to actually fail" (HURL!)
The Hill ^ | September 8, 2011 | Justin Sink

Posted on 09/08/2011 6:08:37 AM PDT by maggief

Sen. Charles Schumer (D - NY) said Thursday morning that he believed that Republicans in Congress would rather see President Obama defeated than economic improvement that would benefit the country as a whole.

"I think that is true. I think that is absolutely true. I'm sure are some on their side who would say that of people on our side, but I believe that is all too true," Schumer said on MSNBC's Morning Joe.

Schumer contrasted Republican opposition to the president's economic policies to Democrats who were against the war in Iraq during George W. Bush's presidency.

"During the Iraq war, many of us came to be opposed to the Iraq war, but we still wanted America to win… You look at the analogy today you get the feeling that there are some that want the economy to actually fail to prove their point. That's a very bad thing."

Schumer's comments double down on criticism he levied at Republicans during the debt ceiling debate in June.

"If they oppose even something so suited to their tastes ideologically, it shows that they're just opposing anything that helps create jobs," Schumer said. "It almost makes you wonder if they aren't trying to slow down the economic recovery for political gain."

"Chucky" Schumer is a Fascist Pig. He'd like to see all the babies in the country dead and the Republicans in prison.

That is a faulty vision in my book.

Dims blame Republicans for that which Dims are most guilty.

I agree with obama that Chuckie’s hedge fund trader donors should pay a lot more tax. Like double.

Go for it Chuckie

Some idiot democrats don’t realize that Obama is achieving his goals with the failure of the economy.

For the country to rise back up economically means Obama has to fail....

To some degree he is correct.

In 2008 I knew RINO McCain had to lose and Obama had to win with his Dem congress (esp Pelosi) to put his failed liberal policies under exhibit for all to see. A POTUS Bush/McCain/Romney could never show that economic stimulus's dont work, in fact they tend to make crackpot Democrat ideas more popular by supporting and taking ownership of watered down versions of them all while talking 'tax cuts' etc.

Schumer...name sounds familiar. Oh, I remember: When the polls tightened in 2008, the honorable Sen. Schumer leaked a letter to the media that IndyMac Bank seemed insolvent which caused a run on the bank and widespread panic among deposit holders around the US.

Which “economy” would that be, Chucky? Any Republican who wants the American economy to fail would actually be supporting Obama.
