LONGVIEW, Wash. (AP) — Hundreds of Longshore workers stormed the Port of Longview early Thursday, overpowered and held security guards, damaged railroad cars, and dumped grain that is the center of a labor dispute, said Longview Police Chief Jim Duscha.

Six guards were detained for a couple of hours after 500 or more Longshoremen broke down gates about 4:30 a.m. and smashed windows in the guard shack, he said.

No one was hurt, and nobody has been arrested. Most of the protesters returned to their union hall after cutting brake lines and spilling grain from car at the EGT terminal, Duscha said.

The International Longshore and Warehouse Union believes it has the right to work at the facility, but the company has hired a contractor that's staffing a workforce of other union laborers

Kidnapping is a Federal crime. I’m sure Eric Holder will have people all over this one. .....well perhaps not.

No one arrested? What, no security cameras watching the action?

None of the cops wants to wake up with a horse’s head in his bed.

These guys are no joke. I knew the son of a longshoreman in New York, and heard stories about his father taking away the gun of someone threatening him with it and then beating the man with it.

But we need some legality here. Either change the law, the right and legal way as laid out by the Constitution, or follow it as it is.

Since when has being held hostage considered a non-issue? Are you freakin’ kidding me? Barge into a 7-11, try that and see what happens. Oh, I forgot, some animals are more equal than others.

Longview basically exists because of the huge Weyerhauser mill on the banks of the Columbia river. It’s as union a town as there gets on the west coast. Hell, I’d be surprised if the security guards weren’t union members as well.

This is just SOP. If the guards were killed, then it would be an escalation.

And I suspect the guards are willing hostages.

I would love to have been one of the security guards. I would spend the rest of my life in luxury after I sued

Cops are union too, and very hesitant to get involved unless someone was hurt.

I know from personal experience.

500 terrorists armed with baseball bats and crowbars and maybe 15 police.

15 police against 500 terrorists who would probably be able to find out where you lived.

It's impossible to believe but no news outlet is giving this any coverage, even Fox only has one minor little piece.

If the Tea Party did this it would be HUGE headlines with pix, interviews, video, commentaries, etc."  obama would start his speech tonight to let us know the dangers we face from party members.

Let a union commit several felonies and not only do they not get arrested: but no MSM coverage?  CNN's big story? "Why Jay-Z's music still mattered on 9/11". MSNBC's second story is "Perry's link to drug company probed".  Un-freaking-believable how biased the MSM is in this country!  They will do nothing to make the democrats, obama, or unions look bad.

Woo Hoo - a union war! I hope they start attacking each others union halls. Divide and conquer.

I wonder what the security guards' union has to say about this.

From what I read and summarized, the ILWU is upset that the Longview port is using a contractor who has a deal with another union. Not ununionized - another union.

Obama’s people. Selective lawn enforcement based on political agendas will crack this nation in two: illegal immigration and this episode being two examples. Obama and Holder have no ethical compass, moral fortitude, and are seeking the destruction of this country.
