Reid Rains on Vitter's Lousiana Saints Party (forcing Pub's to stay for O's speech tonight)
Washington Examiner ^ | 9/8/11 | Susan Ferrechio

Several Senate and House Republicans are planning to skip President Obama's address tonight to a joint session of Congress, in part because they believe he will be showing them nothing new when he unveils his big job creation proposal. But Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., has found a way to keep those pesky Republicans in the building, or at least in his chamber. Reid on Thursday scheduled a vote for after Obama's speech, and it's not one many in the GOP will want to miss. As soon as Obama is done talking, the Senate will proceed to a measure to disapprove a $500 billion increase in the debt limit. Reid's move means that Sen. David Vitter, R-La., has to skip the party he was planning back home to celebrate the opening night of the NFL season, which will feature the Louisiana Saints. "Typical Harry Reid," Vitter wrote in a letter to those invited to his party as well as the media. "Pens in those who would have skipped speech, like me. So now I'll miss my own Saints game party at home."

Would it really matter? Wouldn’t pass in the house...probably not even in the senate. Call that little munchkin’s bluff. A 500 billion increase immediately after zero asks for porkulous 2? Talk about a turd in the punch bowl.

I know how you feel. The always say Tennessee Titans instead of Nashville Titans.

NB: I am not Titans fan.

Harry Reid is a nasty vindictive lifer. The only life he has is being a Senate Honcho. His wife probably doesn’t even want him home in Nevada. Turn the Democrats out in 2012 and take over the Senate in Jan 2013!

All four of Reid’s sons are “connected” lawyers in Nevada and his one daughter is married to one. The LA Times had an expose of Reid’s years of sleazy real estate deals that have made him rich. He goes in partners on raw Nevada land then has the zoning elevated by his confederates in county government. The land is magically worth more and is then sold

The Democrats know every Punk-arse, douche bag trick, in the book and they aren’t afraid to use them, unlike our neutered Republican hoard.

Isn’t the speech BEFORE the game?

They should all show up wearing Harry Reid masks and scratch themselves in unpleasant places.

“Eventually the pendulum will swing back to the pubbies and they ought treat the dems like they werre treated, like scum.”

‘Just thinking the same. However, Boehner could also start to schedule votes in the House when the dems are scheduling re-election things at in their states.

The Repubs should take a cue from the Wisconsin Dems, and take a little trip to Canada, or Mexico, or out into international waters.

Before you get hostile about the Saints beating the Packers, remember who we are up here in the frozen tundra. The whole state is run by Republicans - the governor, the house and assembly, and one of the Senators, who took over from Russ Fiengold. And Paul Ryan is my representative. The Packers deserve to win!!

May miss his own party, but he could watch the game in the cloak room, then go vote. After he casts his vote, go home. I’m sure there are more devious ways of showing his displeasure.

Maybe the Republicans can all use the Senate bathroom just prior to Obama’s speech.

Who wants to bet that the second vote is never held after the “speech”? Low budget trick. Harry Reid is a chump.

Oh, that's okay. Dingy Hairy Reed will get a nice payback from Republican Senators someday. Believe me, they will not forget his childish behavior.

I really don't think so.

Whenever the Republicans gain power they try to be "nice." They are mostly wusses who want the wealth and power, but they are the type who want the power behind the throne. That way they can always blame someone else for the destruction the cause.
