Skip to comments.A Union Goes Too FarViolence by unionized longshoreman is noticed by the NLRB.

It turns out a union can go so far that even the current National Labor Relations Board can't turn a blind eye. A grain operator at the Port of Longview in Washington state was hit with a violent strike yesterday by the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU). Longshoreman walked out at nearby ports in Tacoma and Seattle.
According to police reports, some 500 longshoreman broke in at about 4:30 a.m. Thursday morning and held six security guards hostage for two hours while the protesters rampaged through the facility. They cut brake lines on railroad cars and spilled grain from boxcars.

These are Obama's thugs. I'll explain in subsequent posts.
There is a lot more to this union action than meets the eye.
The Longview port is also a coal terminal. Right now, the coal is on hold for a permit paperwork violation.
While the Longview coal terminal is on hold, SSA, the company that is protesting the grain shipments from Longview, are pushing hard for a terminal of their own in Whatcom County, in a special economic zone that will have little to no local oversight. That terminal will be a “Gateway” terminal. In case you aren’t familiar with Gateways, they are part of the UN Agenda 21 Wildlands project. They are also what Patty Murray’s bill, S.942 are intended to fund. You know, the multi-modal infrastructure projects that Obama keeps saying that we need? Anyway, the only real profit on coal is in the terminals and SSA wants it all.
SSA is fully owned by CARRIX, the largest cargo handling company in the world. Goldman Sachs is the majority stockholder of CARRIX. The rail company that will carry the cargo to the Gateway terminal is BNSF, Warren Buffet’s company and the coal is owned by Peabody, from the Powder River Basin. It’s sub-bituminous coal supposedly headed to China, except that China says that no one should count on them for any long term purchase contracts.
The pressure to build this terminal has come straight from the White House. Richard Trumka, as the former head of the United Mine Workers, wants this badly, but the project may be running into some problems.
Oh, and did I mention that the husband of the WA State Senator, Patty Murray, has been a life time employee of SSA?
There is so much more to this story than what I have written here. It has torn the Democrat party in two, the unions vs the environmentalists and has caused problems for the GOP, who were tight with the Building and Industry people and were supporting a Democrat project for the alleged jobs.
The longshoremen or NLRB?
Oh, there’s more. As I mentioned, the pressure for the state officials to facilitate this Gateway Terminal came straight from the White House and it is widely thought that in exchange for her co-operation, the outgoing Democrat Governor, Christine Gregoire will be offered a seat on the NLRB.
I already mentioned that WA State Senator, Patty Murray’s, husband is a lifetime employee of SSA, but I forgot to mention that the other Senator, Maria Cantwell, who was a founding member of the Apollo Alliance and big supporter of the Sierra Club, worked to facilitate the approval of a receiving terminal to be built in China and operated by SSA.
....and that is really just an introduction to what has been happening on the left coast, while Obama’s EPA tried to shut down all the coal fired power plants on the East Coast. I am so glad that SSA got arrogant and stepped over the line so that the whole country could get a look at what is happening on the West Coast.
Union thugs are terrorists. Violence is part of their business.
What does the WSJ stricle say? I am not a subscriber
The ILWU has a history of violence as well as connections with Communists. Even the CIO denounced the ILWU as a communist organization in the 1940s.
From what I heard today it was not a union fighting a non-union it was one union protesting over the company selecting a different union.
Union vs Union.
I know that too well, up close and personal. The CIOA once had my grandparents run down by a hit and run driver because they were unhappy that my grandfather had been elected the first president of the Electrical Workers and Machinists at RCA.
READ MY POSTS. These thugs are Obama’s thugs. This is HIS plan.
AGENDA 21 ping, too!

"Oh, and did I mention that the husband of the WA State Senator, Patty Murray, has been a life time employee of SSA?"
This is the operative part of the article:
There is some concern that the strike against the two big ports could spread to other important U.S. points of entry if ILWU shops begin slowdowns in sympathy with the union in Washington state. If that happens, the events yesterday will become a national issue demanding the attention of a President who is desperately trying to hold his union base together. This one is worth watching.
What you need to remember is that SSA is owned by CARRIX, the largest Cargo handling company in the world. A general strike by CARRIX workers could shut down WORLD trade. These are Obama’s ace, that he has up his sleeve.
Thanks for the info. I wondered why MT’s governor Brian Swindler (D) was all bent out of shape because the environmentalists were not going to let MT coal be shipped out of there, and then he went silent. Bought off? Ordered to shut up?
I thought the environmental groups were trying to stop the Longview coal terminal as the coal would be burned in China, therefore adding to AGW.
Just wondering, any word on what the security guards’ union has to say on what happened?
The CIO denounced EVERYONE in the forties to cover for their own communist allegiance.
They denounced my grandfather as a communist after their attempt to kill him was unsuccessful and he was elected to the NJ State Assembly.
The CIO accused all the competing unions of being communists.
Thank you for the info.
This really is looking like VERY early Nazi events, when that party was in its infancy.
Regardless, this is the sort of things that happen when an economy is in collapse. People start fighting over the scraps.
The ILWU in Hawaii provided financial backing for the Honolulu Record, a Commie rag, where Frank Marshall Davis spewed his anti-American poison.
According to the article:
Six guards were trapped for a couple of hours after at least 500 Longshoremen broke down gates about 4:30 a.m. and smashed windows in the guard shack, Longview Police Chief Jim Duscha said. He initially referred to the guards as "hostages," but later retracted that after the guards clarified no one had threatened them.
"The guards absolutely could not get out," Duscha said. "They feared for their lives because of the size of the crowd and the hostility of the crowd."
They were not 'hostages' - they were 'trapped', 'could not get out', and 'feared for their lives'. But they were not 'hostages'...the Police Chief said so...
That does not erase the fact the the Comintern did infact coordinate the infiltration of the ILWU as part of their plan to pull Hawai’i out of the US’ hands. A little known newspaper writer from Chicago, Frank Marshall Davis, was part of that plan.
That’s exactly right, the environmental groups were opposing the Longview terminal and that is part of what makes this issue so divisive. The environmentalists were duped into helping SSA get their terminal in Whatcom County.
SSA first told the enviros that the Gateway terminal was going to be just an ordinary bulk cargo terminal. The enviros thought that meant that all the cargo would come from Canada because there was little need for a cargo terminal in Whatcom County for US cargo. Then after the project got lots of support with lies about jobs, they sprung the news that it was to be a COAL terminal and that the coal trains would run along the Bellingham waterfront, along the most scenic and valuable land in the county.
Bought off. He is fully on board with the Goldman Sachs coal terminal.
In addition, they want to ship grain to China and have promised farmers in Montana that they will get government restrictions on raising grain lifted if they agree to ship the grain to China through the Gateway terminal. Your governor is in love with the plan.
Reducing the dredging on the Mississippi was also part of the plan. They want to switch the the center of trade away from the Mississippi and the farmers in the heartland by reducing the importance of the Mississippi.
Let them. They have already committed the violent acts (kidnapping the security guards when they held them for 2 hours) that they would trigger Criminal and Civil RICO actions if someone wanted to push it. Of course this is the Obama administration we’re talking about so they’ll probably get invited to the White House and thanked for their efforts.
It makes little difference that the term hostage was hyperbole. They were still afraid for their lives and trapped in their guard shacks.
Whatever that Douche says, the guards must belong to a union also. They must have been told to have a smoke and drink some beer until the thuggies finish the job.
If I had a business, I'd never hire or accept unionized guards to make sure that they would stop dead any crap by 0b0z0's unions or H0lder's people.
Thanks for that.
When you look at situations like this you see gov’t. involved in deal within deal within deal......and some folks say I’m nuts when I scream about conspiracies.
Have you ever heard of the Enmon’s Decision?
United States v. Enmons, 410 U.S. 396 (1973) is a controversial U.S. Supreme Court case which held that violence, if carried out in furtherance of a labor union’s objectives, does not violate the law according to the extortion and robbery provisions of the federal anti-Racketeering Act of 1934 or the Hobbs Act.
The case involved a labor strike in which union members fired rifles at three utility company transformers, drained the oil from another, and blew up an entire company substation. The labor union in question was seeking a higher-pay contract and other benefits from their employer, the Gulf States Utilities Company. The Court decided that the union involved was immune from prosecution because their violent acts were in pursuit of a legitimate union objective.
It’s just a matter of terminology. Hostage usually implies that someone is being held as a bargaining chip, that is, in exchange for something, ranging from money to a phone-call to the nearest lawyer.
The guards were kidnapped and held against their will, but no demands were made in order to release them. I’m sure this is what they meant when they said they were not hostages.
But there’s no way around the fact that this was a criminal act and should be prosecuted as one.
The police officers are also union members.
Enmons...that’s a horrible decision.
Thanks for all the information, btw.
Would be great to see the union workers rewarded for their actions by their jobs being eliminated, and the work being moved somewhere with non-union employees. Would be even greater to see those causing destruction caught on videotape, prosecuted, and jailed.
LOL! BOTH, the Longshoremen at SSA and the NLRB are Obama thugs.
Like I mentioned, it is being widely speculated that Christine Gregoire will be offered a position on the NLRB for her help in facilitating the Gateway Coal terminal and the Boeing issue.
The guards may be union members, but I’m not sure that’s relevant here. Remember, this union (the ILW) is actually striking over the employment, not of non-union workers, but of workers from a different union.
The ILW is still the big thug Marxist union that it always has been and even intimidates other unions. It has a track record of this.
That said, I don’t really think there’s much that a handful of probably unarmed security guards could have done against 500 Communist thugs.
I know what you mean. I’ve had a very difficult time trying to draw attention to this issue, simply because of the layers of complicity.
The Communist was at least well read and educated so he was interesting conversation at lunch.
Oh, don’t misunderstand me. I was not making excuses for the ILWU, I was simply pointing out that an accusation of communism by the CIO was a case of the pot calling the kettle black.
Granted. Where are the arrests and prosecution of the feral animals flash mobs all over the country?
A few fall guys won't make it. Hundreds of H0lder's people should have been arrested.
so 0dumbo might get caught in the crack between 2 unions fighting each other?
thanks for the article and your explanation. I learned things I would not have known
I doubt that Obama feels caught in the crack. I think that this protest is simply a warning shot, not just to the US private sector, but to the whole world.
CARRIX is the largest cargo moving company in the WORLD. A general strike at CARRIX terminals could shut down WORLD trade.
The unions are getting away with a lot of law breaking and threats of violence. That's a prelude to what they intend to do in summer of '12 when their 0b0z0 doesn't run or decides that his polls are way down that he'd lose in a landslide.
Hostage taking is only permitted sixty days after 51% of signed cards have been turned in...
That’s a scary thought, but that is what Obama is aiming for. That is what he is counting on for re-election.
Think about this. SSA the longshoremen company that is doing the protesting and pushing to build the terminal in a special economic zone in Whatcom County, employs Patty Murray’s husband. Patty Murray has submitted a bill to the Senate Transportation committee, S.942 to fund these Gate multi-modal transportation and infrastructure projects.
Patty Murray was appointed by Obama to head the super committee on jobs and the deficit.
Washington State: $5000-$10000; 60 days-1 year; 1 year community service.
This was clearly an unlawful act and should be prosecuted. If the liberal state of Washington let's those thugs walk, then that state is DEAD to me.
Are you kidding me? I know you’re not. WTF?
So what you're saying is that we are getting to see some hot guild on guild action.
Does this excuse from all criminal charges, or simply from the acts cited? What would it take to fix this — is it something a conservative Congress/president could do via legislation or would nullification of this kind of loophole have to become a constitutional amendment?
Teacher strikes are also illegal in the state of WA, yet the governor allows one strike per year without any penalty. It is up to the governor to act in the case of teacher strikes. I suppose she could do something about this strike as well, but she won’t.
Gregoire is headed for a seat on the NLRB when her term is up.
It only excuses the acts sited, but for other charges, you would have to identify the individuals involved.
Ain’t gonna happen.
