The chairman of the House Judiciary Committee said Friday that President Obama’s half-uncle, an illegal immigrant who was picked up but has reportedly been released from jail, appears to have benefited from the new “backdoor amnesty” the administration announced last month.
“It appears there is a double standard — one for President Obama’s family and one for everyone else,” Rep. Lamar Smith, Texas Republican, said. “Last year, President Obama’s illegal immigrant aunt was granted asylum and now his illegal immigrant uncle has been released from [the Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agency] custody, even though he was arrested by authorities for drunk driving.”
Mr. Smith said the case will be the first “test case” for a new Homeland Security policy announced last month that gives immigration authorities more discretion to let illegal immigrants go, rather than pursue efforts to deport them.
The Boston Globereported Friday that Onyango Obama, the half-brother of the president’s father, was released from jail Thursday after being held for more than two weeks on an immigration detainer after he was arrested on a drunk-driving charge.
Asked about the case last week, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano told reporters she couldn’t comment on a specific matter and didn’t know enough about the incident.
A White House spokesman said last week that he did not expect the man to receive special treatment.

The more the utter lawlessness is revealed as the norm within this administration, the more this administration cuts off its own legs. Does anybody really believe anything Obama or his minions tell us any more (if they ever did)? The only thing that is transparent about this administration is that they are all crooks, liars, and enemies of the republic.
Now if we could find anybody with the balls to do what has to be done to get the rule of law back...

Yes, drunk, living on social security, someone told me yesterday illegals did not get social security it was against the law. A Perry supporter.
My daughter has a good friend she went to college with. He is from Brazil and speaks perfect English. He worked and paid his way through college, then got is MBA. He was here on a study visa. He volunteered as a coach for a kids’ soccer team. Wonderful young man. He applied to stay in the US, got a job in Arkansas, moved from SC and rented an apartment. He was denied. He appealed and was just recently denied again and had to return to Brazil and can’t reapply for a year. He never got any type of assistance. How is this fair? He is the type we should want in this country.
I don’t know if it would be right to address a drunk-driving charge by just sending him out of the country either. That would leave other things unresolved. Barack Obama, if he has any sense, has arranged for him to pay his fine or whatever then voluntarily leave the country. But I could be mistaken. This uncle could end up embarrassing Barack Obama greatly.

I guess Obama will sign him up for same entitlements his aunt received. My question is, how did uncle afford the same high price lawyer the aunt had ?
If we spent half as much time and resources checking out the people who are doing the process the right way as we spend having to deal with those who flip the bird at the laws, we could allow people to come here LEGALLY within a reasonable time-frame. Since the people would be here legally they wouldn’t be vulnerable to exploitation - there wouldn’t have to be rape trees in the Arizona desert. And we wouldn’t be so vulnerable to terrorists and criminals. It would also reduce racial tension because we wouldn’t have to wonder if the Hispanic we see is legal or not.
Having a legal process that is actually enforced is a win-win for everybody - except the people who benefit from exploiting these people, and I think we all know who those people are.
And the worse things get in Mexico, the worse the problems of illegals in America will get.
Rep. Smith had a duty to immediately call on the House to draw up articles of impeachment when the amnesty-by-fiat memo was issued.
At the very least, he should have called on the House to halt the executive branch’s illegal usurpation of the powers of the legislature.
He did nothing. He’s either lazy or a coward or an idiot — or all three.
So why doesn’t he just shut up?

Why would these immegrant elatives want to stay in a country their relative is destroying?
