An Oakland children's museum, citing pressure from the community, canceled a planned exhibit of artwork by Palestinian youth that depicted the Israeli assault during the 2008-2009 Gaza conflict.
The Museum of Children's Art was scheduled to display the art from Sept. 24 to Nov. 13. The exhibit had been in the works for several months, with an opening reception to feature poetry and special art activities for children.
The drawings in the exhibit were created by children ranging in age from about 9 to 11 and included bombs dropping, tanks and people getting shot.
"They are pictures of what these children experienced. It's their experience," said Barbara Lubin, executive director of the Middle East Children's Alliance, which was organizing the exhibition.
Museum officials notified Lubin on Thursday that they were pulling the plug on what had become a controversial exhibit that was pulling the children's museum into the long-standing conflict between Palestine and Israel.
It had become a distraction to the main objective of bring arts education to all children, said MOCHA board member Randolph Bell.

One academic studies that is quite unknown to the public is called ‘Museum Studies’. In many universities, it’s under the American Studies program. The curriculum basically is about how to present the past (and present) in a certain way that it will ‘inform’ the public better about the issue. Needless to say, they basically mean to display some kind of revisionist version of history that gladly put Americans, the West, capitalism, and so on in not so positive light.
So much bullcrap in one article.
If you read it, you’ll wish you had your brain back.
Not the pulling of the exhibit, but the ‘protest’ of the Middle East Children’s Alliance.
Usually it is the Palis who start conflicts with Israel by shooting missles over the border into Jewish territory.
Now—Oakland- wants to glorify the people who push the first button???
Only in OAKLAND!!!
I have taught Museum Studies courses and your post is erroneous. Museum courses taught by ethical professors are about how to effectively fulfill your museum’s mission, be it to tell the story of the Holocaust or simply tell the story of the community where the museum exists. If the museum board is controlled by a buch of lefties, then the exhibits will reflect that, but if the board is controlled by common sense types, then the exhibits will reflet their values. Conservation of artifacts, using labels that do not burden your visitor’s eyes, creating exhibits that are interesting, and bringing organization to the display of collections are just a few of the topics discussed in Museum Studies courses.
The bias you perceived is due to the board members and the museum’s mission statement; not the curriculum. An area of study is neither left nor right; it is the biased implementation of knowledge gained in the classroom where the abuses take place.
Shariah Art. Next up, Shariah Learning (a.k.a., Holocaust denial in education). Thanks SmithL.
So, I'm wondering if your program is a separate program or it is also under American Studies.
Barbara Lubin is, by her own admission, nothing but a Jewish, leftist, anti-Israel, Pali-loving masochist. There are too many like her grabbing MSM attention.
I'm glad she was undermined in her dangerous effort here to brainwash American children in anti-Israel propaganda.
Here is a video in which she describes in her own words what a jerk she is:

Thanks!
Perhaps these people should be given gift subscriptions to America’s First Freedom.

“Middle East Children’s Alliance” Isn’t this the group that had to stop serving as a conduit for 501(c)(3) tax exempt money to the International Solidarity Movement?
If youd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.

The fact that they would even CONSIDER such an outrageous thing ranks among the OTHER outrageous things we have seen recently - like a college ordering students to fly other national flags at a 9/11 event.
“If you read it, youll wish you had your brain back.”
So funny!
