Very good one. Reminds of Fall season in ‘68 (freshman year in HS).

I thank you for what you've done but it still does not answer the question as to what Palin plans to do about it.

I like what you said about she really meant to say to elect Palin president. I think I want more answers. This sounds revolutionary but I have no clue as to HOW she plans to accomplish any of this.

I think it’s the beginning of a 3rd party challenge to the democrat and republican establishments.

After all, Todd Palin was formerly a member of the Alaska Independent Party. The AIP gave their endorsement to the Constitution party in 2008. Todd, of course, had switched to repub in support of his wife at a prior, earlier time up in Alaska.

I hope you’re wrong. Anyone thinking “third party” cares not one twit about their country—unless it’s a lefty “third party” of course.

I disagree about 3rd parties. Parties aren’t mentioned at all in the constitution.

However, if Romney wins the nomination, I cannot vote for him or any pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage liberal.

It won’t happen. This time I will not pretend that would be a lesser of two evils. That would just be two different evils.

From what I read the story reeked of sarcasm not satire.

Of course, the parties are not mentioned in the Constitution but that is where we are. I will be voting for the Republican nominee, no matter who it is. I despise Obama far more than I despise any one of our people.

Maybe I can make it simple for everyone who cares to answer the question.

First of all, you asked a question about a text of the recent Tea Party Speech

find it here ...
http://www.maggiesnotebook.com/2011/09/sarah-palin-iowa-speech-transcript-video-sarah-palin-tea-party-of-america-speech-indianola-iowa/

the pullout quote, according to the enthused blogger, is this:

So, do you want to know why the permanent political class doesn’t really want to cut any spending? Do you want to know why nothing ever really gets done? It’s because there’s nothing in it for them. They’ve got a lot of mouths to feed – a lot of corporate lobbyists and a lot of special interests that are counting on them to keep the good times and the money rolling along. ~ Sarah Palin

And since the so-called “experts” on Free Republic are apparently too arrogant, too star-struck, or too ignorant to answer a question that CGGMA posted, there is a solution that is specific — and vague — at the same time

from the speech, part 1 of Palin’s solutions

##################
Palin, in part:
to make America the most attractive and competitive place to do business, to set up shop here and hire people here, to attract capital from all over the globe that will lead to an explosion of growth, instead of chasing industry offshore, I propose to eliminate all federal corporate income tax. And hear me out on this. This is how we create millions of high-paying jobs. This is how we increase opportunity and prosperity for all.
#################

so that was precise. But do we do away with crony capitalism by cutting taxes? I’m for cutting taxes, but it appears she has proposed a solution to a different problem, not one she raised.

Here, however, is a solution — but it is vague.

####################
Palin, in part
To balance out any loss of federal revenue from this tax cut, we eliminate corporate welfare and all the loopholes and we eliminate bailouts. This is how we break the back of crony capitalism because it feeds off corporate welfare, which is just socialism for the very rich. We can change all of that. The message then to job-creating corporations is: We’ll unshackle you from the world’s highest federal corporate income tax rate, but you will stand or fall on your own, just like all the rest of us out on main street.
####################

“Ending corporate welfare” has been a tired bromide, a shopworn cliche, that numerous politicians have trotted out, year after year, decade after decade.

Gov. Palin offered very little by way of specifics. But she did propose the elimination of corporate income taxes. And that is a great idea — although hardly a new one.

In mid-August, Gov. Perry proposed:
Texas Governor Rick Perry went on record today saying that a 35% tax rate on corporations is too high, and that we should lower it to zero percent in order to get them to start creating jobs.

But Palin’s identification of the Shelob at the center of the web is, at least, a start.

See, Sarah acolytes? See how easy it is when you take a quick break from burning incense and bowing at altars and casting runes and fattening up cows?

It truly wuly wasn’t that hard to answer the legitimate questions of more than a few who ask: What are Gov. Palin’s solutions?

I found one! All by myself! Si se puede !

Hey Jorge-

Bachmann and Cain also called for ending corporate taxes... before Perry.

Oh, and hey CaliCon, let me ask you this... if Rick said it before Palin, how come nobody heard it?

Windflier, do these Palin haters ever say why they hate her other than her faux “unelectability”?

They don't all throw out the 'unelectability' angle, but I will say that it's one of the more popular memes. Most just repeat some cookie cutter talking point against her, then proceed to belittle the person supporting her.

It's also interesting that the attack points are almost always uttered as declarative statements - almost never as a personal point of view.

I have a lot more respect for those who take the same positions, but who clearly express those as their personal opinions. At least then you know you're talking to a live person, and not some political operative, or a babbling hypnotic.

Thanks for your reply. I rarely haunt the candidate threads, only when I have a bit of extra (ha ha) time and/or there is a particular point that catches my eye. I figure when the primaries are getting close and Palin has announced she’s running (or not) then I’ll worry about it.

If she doesn’t run I cannot imagine who I’d vote for.

Palin has calculated she can win as an independent in a three way race

I don't think she's done anything of the sort. She know exactly what happens in a three-way race; she saw it when Clinton beat Bush 41, with just a plurality of the vote, because Ross Perot had tapped into a very angry vein in the Republican voting populace that year.

Sarah doesn't want four more years of Obama, and if she decides not to run, she'll support the Republican candidate.

I don't know how you stay away from it. Outside of work and family, nothing else commands my attention the way the Republican primary does. The future of our nation is riding on it, because whoever wins that, will be our next president.

I'm literally on pins and needles waiting for Sarah to announce. From all available evidence, it's a foregone conclusion that she'll step in - but when? Perhaps late September. She's given enough clues to make me believe that that's the most likely point of entry for her.

She's playing this as cool as the coolest cucumber I've ever seen. She's watching the battlefield like a hawk, and will not commit a moment sooner than when she sees things shape up to her best advantage.

That said, more and more people are beginning to see what she's up to, and she may be losing just a bit of tactical advantage because of that. Still, she's the 800,000 pound 'Godzilla from Wasilla', so she can afford to wait longer, where others cannot. The only thing that will force her hand at this point, are the primary filing dates.
