There was a fascinating show on Public TV about 9/11 and I think it will run several more times in the next few days. It shows the events of 9/11 at Offut Air Force Base in Nebraska. The show is called STRATCOM 9/11: A Different Doomsday. It contains footage that I had never seen of the President and the base. I’m not sure if it’ll be available outside of NE but it’s worth watching if you can.
It was especially interesting to me because I live in Nebraska. On 9/11 I remember talking with my husband and saying, “We don’t need to worry; nothing will happen here b/c there’s nothing that important here.” As I was driving downtown a little bit later the local radio announcer talked about “A distinctive airplane just landed at Offut; it looks like Air Force One.” And of course it was.
I’ll see if it’s on locally. I purged PBS from my viewing list because of all the leftist stuff they’re showing, as recently as yesterday.
Btw, more importantly:), my mother and her people were from Nebraska. The Cornhusker state has a special place in my heart; also have many cousins still living there.
