GRAND FORKS, N.D. - Locked-out union workers at American Crystal Sugar Co. are blaming fires at plants in Drayton and in East Grand Forks, Minn., on inexperienced replacement workers hired to take over harvesting duties.
Company spokesman Jeff Schweitzer said the fires happened in pulp dryers Thursday at the plant in Drayton and on Friday at the East Grand Forks plant. No one was hurt.
East Grand Forks Fire Chief Randy Gust said a pulp dryer fire isn't unusual and that his department responds to about one each year.
Union spokesman Mark Froemke said the company won't share information about the fires. The union has argued that only their workers have the experience to run the plants.

So fires in previous years were caused by what: drunk/stoned/lazy union apes not paying attention?
Those kind of fires happen - even when experienced people run the place... and may happen more with green-horns on the job. That’s all I’m sayin’.
Verizon wins injunction against striking workers after reports of vandalism...
Striking workers have also been barred from entering inside of any Verizon properties unless they are performing their duties as Verizon employees under the direction of Verizon. Rules were also set for recording, video taping or photographing any individual at any Verizon or performing company.
Ironically, section J is one that would normally go without saying, yet is clearly stated:
Dropping, spreading, throwing, placing or otherwise causing nails, glass, cinder block, spikes, feces, clubs, rocks, screws, or puncture devices of any kind, or other object or debris to be thrown or strewn in, on, or about Verizons driveways, parking lots, entrances, exits, vehicles and adjoining roads to any of Verizons property or at any work site.
at least nobody set poop on fire...

‘Ed Schultz’ land.
There is no strike in this situation. The union laborers were locked out of their jobs at the end of their contract and the company has been getting things done without them.
More likely the locked out union thugs started them.
Conjecture on your part is no more valid than anyone else's.
I do have reality on my side. And facts.
Fact: It’s not a strike - it’s a company lock-lout.
Fact: The lock-out began some time ago. Aug 1st to be exact.
Atlas is beginning to shrug.

GRAND FORKS, N.D. - Police say union supporters have directed racial slurs and racist symbols at replacement workers and security personnel outside an American Crystal Sugar plant in North Dakota.
Traill County Sheriff Mike Crocker says there have been racial statements made to security people outside of the company’s Hillsboro facility. He says he recently saw a monkey-like figure hanging from a noose attached to a large inflatable rat outside the plant. He says it was removed the next day.
