LONDON (Reuters) - Former President Al Gore will renew his 30-year campaign to convince skeptics of the link between climate change and extreme weather events this week in a 24-hour global multi-media event.

"24 Hours of Reality" will broadcast a presentation by Al Gore every hour for 24 hours across 24 different time zones from Wednesday to Thursday, with the aim of convincing climate change deniers and driving action against global warming among households, schools and businesses.

The campaign also asks people to hand over control of their social networking accounts on Facebook and Twitter to it for 24 hours to deliver Gore's message.

"There will be 200 new slides arguing the connection between more extreme weather and climate change," Trewin Restorick, chief executive of the event's UK partner Global Action Plan, told Reuters on Monday.

"There will be a full-on assault on climate skeptics, exploring where they get their funding from."

Back in the early 70’s we used to dump water, draino and aluminum foil into the bottom of a one litre 7-up bottle (they were glass back then) to produce hydrogen. We’d use it to fill up balloons and release them with a lit string at night.

Real purdy when they popped.

The heat generated would eventually break the bottle, btw.

That reminds me, did anyone get their Exxon Mobile check this month? Mine is late.

I torched a couple old futons mattresses on the burn pile at the back of the acre last week.

A very cool black billowing smoke signal, imho !

I'd have sworn it spelled out a wavey sorta version of    at one point.

Being an old but long-time scout, I know how to do it from scratch, hence am allowed to use hydrocarbons for efficiency's sake these days .. that dramatic whoooomp is always a treat !

Telethon time!

“Alright, we’ve got six hours left. Six hours to save the crusade that has given me such great personal wealth. I’d hate to have to sell one of my shorefront mansions to keep my houseboat afloat.

You got a timpany!!? An update on the latest dollar amount in my bank account!? Do it! Do it! There it is! $120 million, 365 thousand dollars!! Awesome!!

Keep sending that money in, fellow earth citizens. Don’t forget! Tipper got half, so we got a long way to go to meet our new number… One more big number dollar figure like that last one and I’m going to release my second chakra right here on the stage!!

Keep those phones ringing folks! Our volunteers are working the phones and I'm not paying them a thing. Now, let's welcome to the stage singer Alannis Morrisette... that oughta slow down my chakra release at least... Just kidding! Listen to me! I’m sounding like Biden tonight, I’m so tired! Bring me more fried chicken while we let this Canadian broad warble!”
