Sarah Palin says she is not afraid to call out fellow Republicans when she thinks they have been "part of the problem." On Monday night, Palin accuses Republican candidate for President Rick Perry of engaging in "crony capitalism." Perry, as governor of Texas, mandated that young girls get a vaccination for the HPV virus in an executive order. Perry is criticized for this in part because of his connections to the drug manufacturer Merck.

She defends Michelle Bachman. Blunt, honest and unafraid. "She's got the bumps and bruises" from taking on the cronies in her own party over the last 20 years.

I’m not sure that Sarah is right on this one. How can motive be proven here?

That’s interesting because Palin endorsed Perry after the Gardasil kerfuffle.

The establishment trembles in fear. (and rage)

I’ve been saying it all along. Politics as we know it is over and the “conventional wisdom” no longer applies.

And thus pops the delusion that Palin will not run and endorse Perry instead.

Do you recall if Governor Palin ever mentioned the campaign contribution? I thought I only heard the CoS reference.

Interesting back story from her on the national full court press Merck was engaged in to get this drug to state markets.

I hope RealClearPolitics linked to the complete transcript, because the contention that Palin asserted “Rick Perry has partcipated in Crony Capitalism” is a figment of imagination or result of careless listening/reading.

Not only that but if this $5 or 6 thousand that Perry got from Merck is his best example of crony capitalism, he's not very good at crony capitalism.

Were any laws broken? Does this differ from the behavior of any other candidate?

Even more interesting considering the fact that Palin was a paid TV spokesperson for the company (Spenard) that got the contract to build the ice-rink to nowhere in Wasilla when she was mayor and other contracts when she was governor.

Make no mistake about it, GOP elitists are afraid of the TEA Party and Palin types. I remember an op-ed in the WSJ before the 2010 elections by Robert B Rieecccch. He warned the GOP insiders that although the TEA Party was fiscally conservative, they will go after big business/big government favoritism. He then said to support the Democratic Party because although they will screw you, at least we will throw you a bone once in a while. These are my words but the article was very blunt.

Perry is a 1/2 Tea Party 1/2 insider. That is why the elitists are moving to Romeny. IF PALIN gets into the race, the insiders will support Perry as the compromise candidate of Romney the insider and Palin outsider purist.

Another day and another sea of Perry haters posts. Odd how we see only Perry hater posts here and nothing on Romney or Bachman or anyone else. Palin is wrong.
That was a federal vaccine program paid by Medicaid and SCIPS programs.
No one is making money off a Medicaid vaccine program.

Michele Bachman looked foolish and ugly last night and very unpresidential.
Her comments to Perry were way out of line.
She appears to be working with Mittens.
She gave him a BIG KISS and never attack him.
She is looking for a VP spot now.

I would simply say, Sarah, how much cash did you and your family of 7 receive from your windfall tax on oil profits. 10,000 a year?

Since "Alaska's resources belong to Alaskans" why didn't you tax you and your husband's commercial fishing enterprise? Are the salmon of Alaska not "Alaska's resources?"

If you are such a fighter for justice, why did you quit when the going got tough in Alaska and do you think whatever reforms you implemented will have any staying power since you left after fulfilling only half your term?

Sarah if Perry is a crony capitalist, and you imply that Perry is for sale for as little as $5,000, why did you endorse him in the Republican Primary after he issued the EO?

Sarah why did you say there was "no way you would deport the 12-14 million illegals because it would be inhumane" and that you were for a path to citizenship in an interview with Univision in 2008 but just a couple years later you agreed with Bill O'Reilly that you would build a fence from Brownsville to San Diego and deport all 12 million?

Palin had only the illusion of virtue as her strong point.

She didn't, but Greta Van Susteren did. Palin's remarks are more focused on Perry's chief of staff. Palin: The Problem With This Country Is People Are Afraid to Call Members of Their Own Party Out on 'Crony Capitalism' - Van Susteren Transcript - Sept 12, 2011
