In short -
9-9-9 is TEMPORARY - it is a bridge to the Fair Tax.
It is a flat tax, but everyone gets skin in the game. The numbers amounts will be limited by law. If Congress tries to mess with it - the whole country is affected not just the wage earners. Can you imagine the backlash? Right now, half the country doesn’t care of they change the amounts because it doesn’t affect them.
It isn’t ideal like the Fair Tax, but it is more palatable for many and is a great way for people to try it before jumping in 100%. Maybe it is time for people to stop and think about the fact that the reason we don’t have FT is it has always been promoted as “all or nothing”. I am a 100% FT supporter and I love this idea.
That indicates a complete ignorance of Herman Cain's history on your part. Of all the candidates he has the most executive experience.
Not sure who's campaign talking points you are regurgitating but your comments here are completely divorced from reality.
Cain has lots of business executive experience. He has no governmental executive experience, and the left wants Cain because of that fact. They see him as malleable, one who can be shaped by their press and protest tactics.
In times like these we need a president who has such governmental executive experience and who is distinctly pro military on the record.
and the income tax was never to exceed 2% of income on only the largest incomes.
And the temporary tax to fund the Spanish American War lasted over 80 years.
My understanding is 999 would transition to Fair Tax (along with the repeal of the 16th) in less than one Presidential term. All of that can be written in the bill. If you have a majority of like-minded people in Congress, it is very doable to be fully Fair Tax before 2016.
So why doesn’t he do Fair Tax now? I heard it is because after talking to many well-respected economists, Cain feels the country is in bad enough shape that there needs to be some money coming in for a transitional period just to get from A to B.
My question to you is this - how is what we have better than what Cain proposes?
You say amounts can be raised. But they can be raised now, and half the country doesn’t care because they don’t pay tax. In flat tax, everyone is affected.
ain has no government executive experience, and has no record of strongly supporting the military. Cain does not have the survival skills to be an effective president during these times.
No, I am not a Romney supporter. I am for Perry or even better, Palin.
Without government executive experience, the leftists Obama has now appointed into government positions will be all over Cain.He just hasn’t got the experience.
The 2% was raised because only that minority was affected. Then more and more were affected.
But with flat tax every has skin in the game.
Cain will fire the czars. He will replace cabinet members with likeminded conservatives. My guess he will have a republican majority in the house and probably senate. Our best chance to turn things around.
If a company is failing, they bring in outside consultants because people inside are too close to the problem. It’s time for an outsider.
Why not 8, 8, 8? Or even 7, 7, 7?
I will say one more thing, then I have to run to a baseball game - but 2012 is our BEST chance to get a fiscal conservative in the WH (in Cain’s case he happens to be socially conservative too). We can make real, deep changes in our country since I believe we will have a republican majority all around. We don’t have to settle for a moderate. Obama has screwed things enough that we CAN put the person in we want. We just have to get busy and get them elected!
Many have said the GOP won’t select Cain. GOPs all over the south have Cain in first. The GOP is conducting phone calls nationwide and asking people’s opinions on Cain. Don’t count him out!
How’s that McCain guy working out for you?
I trust a businessman more than I trust a politician.
Cain is the real deal and he can get the job done. They want to silence him because he’s not an insider.
Because economists have said that is the amount the country can scale down but continue to operate until the Fair Tax can be implemented.
I like Cain, and Bachmann, and Santorum. Actually I would vote for just about any of them over Obama.
The only ones I really, really don’t like are Paul and Huntsman, and up against Obama I’d hold my nose and vote for them too.
Also, during the time between 9-9-9 and Fair Tax, Cain and Congress(and I believe he will get them on board) will be doing deep cuts in spending - horizontally and vertically, including entire agencies (EPA, etc) so that Fair Tax is more readily implemented.
Well, that didn't stop the Kenyan.
Some of it would be offset in a decrease in product price due to the offset reduction of corporate taxes...
