The Obama White House tried to rush federal reviewers for a decision on a nearly half-billion-dollar loan to the solar panel manufacturer Solyndra so Vice President Biden could announce the approval at a September 2009 groundbreaking for the companys new factory, newly obtained e-mails show.
* * *
One e-mail from an OMB official referred to the time pressure we are under to sign-off on Solyndra. Another complained, There isnt time to negotiate.
We have ended up with a situation of having to do rushed approvals on a couple of occasions (and we are worried about Solyndra at the end of the week), one official wrote. That August 31, 2009, message, written by a senior OMB staffer and sent to Terrell P. McSweeny, Bidens domestic policy adviser, concluded, We would prefer to have sufficient time to do our due diligence reviews.
White House officials said Tuesday that no one in the administration tried to influence OMBs decision on the loan. They stressed that the e-mails show only that the administration had a quite active interest in the timing of OMBs decision.

There’s Hope Yet Ping.
This from the WaPo? Maybe this story has legs.
This POS president is way slicker than Xlinton. Not a damn thing will happen. As usual.
The Won and his minions must be very confident that all the "smoking guns" are under lock and key at the FBI as part of an "ongoing active investigation," where nobody, not even Issa and his committee, will be able to find anything.
CYA operation in full effect, backing away from this as fast as their little legs can carry them.
This POS president is way slicker than Xlinton.
No, I don’t think so, sometimes you can be too
smart for your own good. Hubris is it’s own reward
or punishment as the case may be.
The dems are in mutiple big troubles and soon we’ll see
how the scrambling results in a sloppy cover up.
There’s a loose end to the skein somewhere.
It’s easy to be misled when you are a fool.
The big donor guy gives Zero $53,500 and gets a $535,000,000 ‘loan’ for this Solyndra.
Seems to me, every Congressman/woman needs to ask for his/her cut per $1mm. If that hasn’t already occurred.
If Obama were a Republican, this story would be front page news everyday. There would already be an Independant Counsel appointed, and Senate Hearings being conducted.
The implications in this story are GLARINGLY obvious. At first glance, it looks like the president got a $500,000,00 loan approved for his political backers, and they subsequently “went broke” and declared bankruptcy.
WHERE IS THE FINE-HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS?
ENRON,ENRON,ENRON ( JUMPING UP & DOWN )
Oh wait!
“The e-mails also raise questions about whether the administration should have foreseen financial trouble. In August 2009, e-mail exchanges between Energy Department staff members pointed out that a credit rating agency projected that the project would run out of cash in September 2011. Solyndra shut its doors on the final day of August.”
...And the auditor had already given a “going concern” opinion (the death penalty opinion) to the company _before_ the loan was approved.
This is really bad for Barry's team in the WH. OMB was actively prevented from performing “due diligence” (an accounting term of art) _requiring_ adequate time to be completed properly.
And Biden is sucked in too along with Rahm!
Cons always want their marks to rush into things.
Thanks AtlasStalled.
If we don't have a GOP POTUS candidate that can pick this up and make some serious hay, we are totally and completely screwed.
This is a very, very big deal.
Most of them are that this is in some way Bush's fault or Repubs faults or Bush/Repubs are just as bad or worse.
They're stark raving mad.
This scandal is large enough that the MSM is actually gearing up to run with it. This could be very good.
