Civil rights groups accuse Perry of 'discrimination' on voter law
Politico ^ | Sept. 13, 2011 | Ben Smith

A coalition of civil rights groups will file documents with the Department of Justice tomorrow accusing Texas Gov. Rick Perry of intentionally discriminating against black and Hispanic voters by backing and signing a strict new voter identification law earlier this year.

Voter ID has emerged as an increasingly hard-fought partisan issue, with Republicans across the country pushing laws they say will combat possible vote fraud, while Democrats say their real effect will be to keep voters who don't have ID - mostly the poor - away. The new law requires voters to show drivers licenses, passports, or other federal or state identification; old rules permitted voters to show utility bills and other common documents.

The Texas law, known as SB14, “is a part of the largest legislative effort to turn back the clock on voting rights in our nation in over a century,” said Advancement Project co-director Judith Browne Dianis, in a statement shared with POLITICO and co-signed by the American Civil Liberties Union and several other groups.

The Obama Administration has been going after TX on a regular basis since Perry has been butting heads with him. Currently letting TX burn, EPA trying to destroy the Energy industry there, and now this hooey law suit. Dems always say that the poor, elderly, and minority can’t get picture id’s and it discriminates. Unless something has changed in the last year, free picture ID’s can be obtained, there is transportation available. Can’t cash a check, open a bank account, fly, enter a hospital, and many other activities. The only thing you don’t need a picture ID for is voter fraud, and the Democrats excel at this activity.

It was expected. He expected it...they are trying to take him out...they will be unable to do that. OF all the people I know, he is the one who’ll withstand all of it and win.

Voter fraud is still alive and well:

In today’s NY special election:

Turner requests impound of ballots in New York special election

http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-pn-ny-ballots-20110913,0,446128.story

“Bill O’Reilly, a spokesman for the Turner campaign, said in an email that the campaign requested that the ballots be impounded after “getting serious reports of election fraud.”

“Many Democrats — including deceased ones — were sent ballots without applying,” O’Reilly said. “Looks like clear election fraud, so we filed papers to impound all ballots cast and mailed.”

I think the left is worried about more than just voting. I think they're worried this will lead to their supporters being knocked off the government tit. Look at the groups they say will be harmed by this. The; poor, elderly, students and minorities, IMHO, should already be required to have photo ID. It's no wonder we have such a high fraud, abuse and waste problem, costing billions in tax dollars yearly. People using Medicare and Medicaid should have to show photo ID every time they go to the doctor. Poor people should have to show photo ID every time they use government issued debit cards. Minorities need photo ID to drive, work and do banking. College students should be required to show photo ID every time they take a test. If they're not, that could explain how Obama made it through.

Dead people, illegal immigrants, babies, schitzoids who want to vote once for each of their multiple personalities ... there is no END to the people this law discriminates against!

Who is behind this lawsuit?

http://www.advancementproject.org/about/people/judith-a-browne-dianis

Judith Brown Dianis .... part of 2000 election lawsuits:
“She also served as co-counsel in NAACP v. Katherine Harris, et al., representing the Florida State Conference of the NAACP and black Floridians in a lawsuit to remedy voting rights violations related to the November 7, 2000 election.”

Having failed in the legislatures, these liberals are using the courts to advocate for their failed liberal view on voter ID laws.

Did you notice before the debate started last night. Perry had his head bowed and was praying? I don’t think anyone realized that is what he was doing.

No I didn’t, but I would certainly believe that. I pray for him, he’s got a tough road ahead but we know he can win.
I’m heading off to bed, see you tomorrow friend.

This is a ploy to win over Hispanic voters in 2012.
