Clara Lou: “My, my. That is certainly damning. Imagine exchanging friendly comments with the neighbor next door.”

Perry: “President Fox’s vision for an open border is a vision I embrace...”

So, Clara Lou, do you, like Gov. Perry, embrace open borders?

“It makes sense healthwise, and monetarily to address shared infectious diseases, whether those with them are from central TX, across the border, or across an ocean. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure is true.”

Yeah, just not at the expense of the American taxpayer, and you know that is how it would be. It always is. And Perry said he wanted an open border. Explain that one away.

Explain that one away.

I'm not sure which component you are referring to..Taxpayer dollars funding infectious diseases in people who are here now, infecting our families, children, and our communities?

Or were you referring to open borders?

Google tuberculosis and school and San Antonio..I can assure you, it is cheaper to prevent that tuberculosis via testing, and sound public health policies, than by having to treat people for it. It's not some "here, take a fifty cent pill" and you're all cured. Plus for older folks, their livers can't handle the med's for tuberculosis.

Also, Perry suggested telemedicine..Hola, that's computerized, and muy cost effective..It's not a doctor, or physician's assistant physically seeing patients in an actual clinic.

On open borders, I live in Texas, not Illinois, so the reality of the border is not lost on me, or on Rick Perry, I assure you. Without support from the federal government, rather than threats or criminal prosecution, it's not going to happen. A doable federal response is not going to happen under the current administration.

There's a pretty good argument that Perry is not the conservative he plays when running for office.

My own take after looking at his record is that he may be slightly more conservative than Romney in some things, but not all. He is closer to RINO Romney than the conservatives who are in the race so far.

It's astonishing what people on this forum are doing to excuse the huge warts in his record.
