This is clearly inspired by the $100,000 offer from the conservative writer to anyone who could prove the charges against Tea Party members by the Dims in DC walking btwn buildings (”spit on me, etc”.).
Bachmann prob. has the proof if she wants to publicize it and subject the person to the mass hysterical reaction the left will heap on her. Guess it won’t happen. Conservatives have class so don’t sell their people out for cheap publicity.
Bachmann said that the woman in question approached her after the debate and related the story about her daughter. It’s not like Bachmann found someone and is protecting her from publicity. The media was all around the candidates that night, and maybe they have pictures of the people approaching the candidates on the podium, whether they were simply congratulating them or talking to them. So if this woman is real she would’ve surfaced already, or maybe she would reveal herself… I guess we have to wait and see.
The offer wasn’t to make public the woman or her daughter, but to make the girl’s medical records available to a medical professional to review to see if there is documented mental retardation or other mental illness that could be connected to the girl’s getting a gardasil vaccination.
The patient’s privacy is 100% covered by HIPAA unless the patient chose to make it public. Penalties for medical professionals revealing anything at all about a patient, or one whose records have been reviewed, are steep, up to potential loss of license. The financial penalties run into the hundreds of thousands of dollars.
I don’t know if Bachmann made up the story or if the mother did. But the simple fact is that you can’t become mentally retarded, as Bachmann claims the mother said. at 12 years old. You are born with it, or not.
