The WTO is trying to tell us that our Country of Origin Label is against free trade. Dump the WTO.
I like to know where my buys comes from, thank you.
Same ol’ push everybody together, no bordersone world government.
Newt Gingrich voted for free trade in the nineties and he still supports free trade, that is why he is not getting my vote, no matter how “brilliant” he is.
Genuine free trade would be one thing. But the WTO is stacked against the U.S., and it always has been. Other countries raise all sorts of barriers to keep our goods out, while the WTO is constantly attacking the U.S. for trying to level the playing field.
agree.
If any Republican wants to blow out a big lead all he/she needs to do is propose the US quits the WTO.
Your sentence isn't clear. Do you mean if any Republican wants to blow a big lead, or if one wants to go out to a big lead?
Talking about one-sided trade deals sure put Trump in the lead for a few weeks, but I don't think he talked about the WTO.
The country of orign label is worthless anyway. A lot of items (at WalMart) are only listed as “distributed by” and not where made. They sell bottled coke for $1.00 but you have to read Mexican to know they were bottled in mexico.
It wouldn't be worthless if it actually provided useful information, for instance: actual country of origin, rather deliberate non-information such as "Manufactured for" or "Distributed by".
Stricter legislation has been passed, but business who don't want it have managed to get their bought and paid for members of Congress to delay implementation. And most US producers definitely want accurate CofO labeling on imports.
That's what I'm talking about. Sorry for the poor wording. They need to channel their inner Trump.
Of course any existing politician won't talk about it - they need China to buy our debt.
