Governor Perry has been criticized for his now-rescinded order mandating HPV vaccine for preteen girls. Heres another side to the story that up until now has never been made public.

CDC Cervical Cancer Statistics
Cervical cancer used to be the leading cause of cancer death for women in the United States. However, in the past 40 years, the number of cases of cervical cancer and the number of deaths from cervical cancer have decreased significantly. This decline largely is the result of many women getting regular Pap tests, which can find cervical precancer before it turns into cancer
Cervical cancer is the easiest female cancer to prevent, with regular screening tests and follow-up.

Thanks for the meaningful quotes WRT the US Constitution.
IMHO, the most important overview of the US Constitution is that it is designed to LIMIT the actions of government.
That's why a freelancing showboater like Perry cannot ever be allowed anywhere near the levers of federal power.
He is totally ignorant as to the responsibilities of an elected official to the citizenry.
So if you can get government permission to "opt out" of something that the government should have no authority to direct you to do in the first place, the mandate isn't really a mandate? It is ok that you have to jump through hoops, fill out "opt out" forms, then get your special opt out permission for the child to attend school. How about this concept instead: Allow people to decide for themselves without any pressure from the government whether or not they think this vaccination is worthwhile.
He did NOT veto it, and it never went into effect. Please review the facts before you post lies. He was wrong to do it the way he did, he's said he was wrong, no vaccines were given.
Could you please add me to the Perry ping list?
This about medicine. Don’t withhold vaccines as part of some misguided secular abstinence program. Abstinence is about morality, not the fear of getting sick.
That's why what she did to Perry was such a cheap shot.
You do understand the difference between making something freely available to everyone and mandating that everyone take it, don't you?
What so many miss, when they talk about the women being "loose" is that a perfectly virtuous woman can be infected by her husband who had sex many years before their marriage with someone who was infected. It has nothing to do with virture, or abstenance, it has to do with a vile disease that destroys life.
You can always tell the people who have never been touched by cancer, they have no clue just how vicious it is. They think it's bad, but they can not concieve how bad.
Look at the mess Zero has created. Even Bush exec experience wasnt enough.
What are you smoking? Gov Palin has more executive experience now than Obama! Give me a break! And President Bush's biggest problems were his "reach across the aisle" attitude and advisors (like Rove) who attempted to triangulate and coop Democrat issues. When you govern like a Democrat, you get Democrat results.
Sarah Palin is EXACTLY what this country needs right now... an independent leader who is a fiscal hawk with a strong following. She has all of the right elements to clean house... and that is why she scares the Hell out of both parties.
Now you want the government to tell private schools to accept them?
No child gets an HPV from sitting next to someone in class.
IF you'd rather NOT be pinged FReepmail me.
IF you'd like to be added FReepmail me. Thanks.

yeah and teens never ever have sex. That’s only in the movies. /sarc
CDC What are the signs, symptoms and potential health problems of HPV?
Most people with HPV do not develop symptoms or health problems from it. In 90% of cases, the bodys immune system clears HPV naturally within two years.
Obamacare has an opt out provision too. I wonder if they think that is not a mandate?
The point is that they could NOT opt out. It is pertinent since that is the excuse.
The key is knowing when and how to step in. In this case, Perry was wrong... and admitted he was. Regardless of the reasons for the decree, it was still wrong and you can argue with Gov Perry himself if you disagree with his recant.
