Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan said on Thursday Israel could not do whatever it wanted in the eastern Mediterranean and that Turkish warships could be there at any moment.

"Israel cannot do whatever it wants in the eastern Mediterranean. They will see what our decisions will be on this subject. Our navy attack ships can be there at any moment," Erdogan told a news conference on a visit to the Tunisian capital. (AP)

"The Turkish Navy can probably do whatever they want in the Med without interference."

Well, maybe as long as nobody makes a DECISION to interfere.

They do not have the capability to operate against opposition from any modern Navy/Air Force in the region.

Erodgan’s bluff has been called by the Russians. Reports are they dispatched a couple nuke subs and a destoryer to the E. Med.

Erodgan would be a fool to even give thought to putting his words into action.

Russia and the "Ottoman Empire" go WAY back in their mutual animosity and fear.

Russia has many current and past reasons to humble Turkey...but it's the current one's that should scare the hell out of the Turks.

Unrestricted access through the Bosporus and Dardanelles is the biggie...along with control of pipelines and energy resources...and the Caucasus.

I can't come up with a good reason why Russia would not dare the Turks to get froggy...without regard to anything going on between Turkey and Israel. Russia has their own reasons.

Russia does have a history of pushing back, when pushed.

And Turkish warships will be under the Mediterranean if Erdogan gives the order to start his ugly, illegal war. Thanks jhpigott.
