On his first day of work, Bob Turner didn't let his Republican boss get a word in edgewise.
The retired TV exec made a rookie's mistake by not waiting for Speaker John Boehner to recognize him before thanking the crowd after being sworn in on the floor of the House of Representatives.
"The only hiccup - cutting the speaker of the House off," Turner, 70, said of his first day representing New York's 9th Congressional District.
Turner buckled the knees of President Obama and national Democrats by upsetting David Weprin Tuesday in the race to replace disgraced ex-Rep. Anthony Weiner in a district where Democrats outnumber GOPers 3 to 1.
Turner's campaign strategy was to make the race about Obama's unpopularity - including the White House's controversial policy toward Israel.
Mayor Bloomberg, who supports Obama's position, had some friendly advice Thursday for the Prez to assure Jewish voters: "I think the President has to stand up and explicitly say that Israel is our close ally."

He said he will need an office in 2012 because he has every intention of running again.
"It may get carved up in a number of different ways, but I intend to fight in '12," Turner said.
The Brooklyn-Queens seat has been considered at risk of being eliminated in an upcoming redistricting plan.
"If it is reconfigured with one less district, maybe I'll be running against Mr. Ackerman," Turner mused, referring to his new colleague, Rep. Gary Ackerman, who represents the 5th Congressional District.
"But we have a little time before we have to worry about that. I have a lot on my plate right now," he added.

Ari, congratulations to you and the rest of the district for the leap of faith they took by electing Bob Turner. They are pointing the way for other areas of the country that were considered no go zones for conservatives. The future looks a bit brighter today.
I’d much rather hear Turner speak than Boehner regardless.
Actually he did. As soon as the Speaker spoke, Turner turned and allowed the formal process to be observed, made a little joke (Now?) and then spoke.
The Dems are so...
We’re going to have to deal with Ackerman. That’s Weprin’s district.
Who writes this crap, the speaker of the house is no ones boss, except his office staff.
