Mayor Rahm Emanuel is giving city workers an important health choice: enroll in a new wellness plan, expected to be unveiled Friday, or pay a higher premium.
The price if they don't enroll: $50 a month.
The program includes an initial screening that focuses on preventative care for asthma, heart disease and diabetes. City employees would then receive wellness training to achieve long-term health goals, including weight loss.
Smokers wouldn't be penalized, but they would be encouraged to quit. Advisers overseeing the program will monitor progress on a bimonthly basis, and those who reach their goals could see their health care premiums reduced.

Doesn’t pretty much everybody have this deal by now? I’ve been doing this for about five years now. At first it gave me agita, but now I figure big whoop, the insurance companies are trying to manage their risk.
They always recommend that I cut back on calories and protein, but at 6’1”, 180#, I think I have a handle on it. Maybe if I become a couch potato who smokes, drinks to excess and gorges on Twinkies, I have to reconsider my attitude.

They bred and taught all that garbage to their kids and THEN sent them to college for the finishing touches. THEN the really brilliant kids went to work for government agencies or ran for political office. Guess which party??

They did this with PA state workers years ago. My then spouse worked for the commonwealth so I was automatically enrolled. Don’t remember a whole lot about it but this Chicago plan sounds similar.
Can't wait for some enterprising paparazzi to publish a pic of him entering said establishment.
