Franklin Pierce’s teenaged son was killed in a train accident en route to the father’s inauguration. Mrs. Pierce blamed her husband, for if he hadn’t run for president, they wouldn’t have been traveling to the inauguration. Was this depression from the loss of the son?
Also, do you know Barbara Pierce Bush is related to Franklin Pierce?

The words ‘unthinkable’, ‘inconceivable’ and ‘incomprehensible’ keep coming to mind. Millions of Americans, IMHO, have subconsciously blocked the possibility of an enemy infiltrating the highest position in the land from their minds. The "It can't happen here." mentality. But it has happened here. And now, America is torn and suffering, due to the elections of 2006 and 2008 to the likes of which have not been seen since the mid 1800's if not before, and, dare I even say, since the Revolutionary War. And millions of them are still oblivious to it all, because it all goes back to the words I mentioned above.
Good for you. You won't mind if I now consider your opinions about America's problems on par with any other foreigner's.

He only seems to be in over his head if you have some strange idea that he ever intended to do anything positive for the country!
