Do you honestly think that she would have married a Dry Cleaner who ‘adored’ her? She sold her personal history and position for financial security. She’s certainly not the only woman in history to do so but painting her as naive and innocent is ridiculous.

This is hilarious. Poor dumb Caroline trying to say that Jackie didn’t say what she clearly said.

she seems to have endured unimaginable challenges and adversity with grace and dignified silence. Very rare qualities.

I agree with you, and I'm sure she suspected her husband of infidelities, but she would have had no way of knowing the explicit details. It all started unraveling years later with Judith Campbell Exner, JFK's Mafia girlfriend...and other books.

I find myself annoyed with Caroline. She always seems like the typical limousine liberal.

FDR was a monster who started our nation on it's road to decline.
He attempted several ways to destroy our Constitution. He lengthened the Depression by several years. He hated private industry.

He gave Europe over the Russians with his poor negotiating skills at Yalta.
And some (many) people liked him at the time!!

I do not know why Jackie made the tapes in the first place or why Caroline released them--but one thing's certain: they'll make lots of money.

If I remember correctly, Caroline sold most of Jackie's jewelry and made a lot of money. She did not donate the jewelry to a museum. QVC sells reproductions of her jewelry, and they carefully explain the history of each piece.

What criticism I may have of JFK does not extend to his military service. His actions as CO of PT-109 reflect well on him, and he probably deserved more than the Navy and Marine Corps Medal for saving the survivors in his crew.

The N&MCM criteria perfectly describe what he accomplished though the effort he put forth to do it may not be adequately recognized. The colored star medals, cross, and MOH are about combat or (some Bronze Stars) combat support. He was not in combat at the time. The medal was the minimum he deserved and the maximum that could be justified under the circumstances, and it made a pretty good movie script.

Thank you. I thought that myself. Seems I read somewhere the tapes were released so as not to have the series. If that IS the case...the series must have been REALLY, REALLY BAD because these tapes are just awful as well.

I’m not sure that being calculating and self-interested or milking a favorable public image would make a politician, or anyone else, a “phony”. If so, who among is for real?

I thought Caroline's comments were incomprehensible. Weirdly contradicting what her mother so obviously meant.

Jackie was a pretty savvy reader of people. I want to hear more. Plus, I really dig that New York accent of hers. Libs must be cringing.

“There are different types of intelligence. (And education)”

This is true...liberals are far and away, educated beyond their intelligence.

I remember the issue about PT 109 not being under power at the time it was rammed - a real no no that has to be overlooked to make him a hero, and I hold his post collision actions in high regard.

This isn’t too surprising. Joseph Kennedy and FDR didn’t like each other either.

I personally did not find Aristotle Onassis very attractive - but he showed up in her life when she needed him.

Or perhaps you were a close friend of Jackie and know more than I.

Her tragic personal life belonged to her - not history.

Joe Kennedy disliked anyone that was a more successful theif than he was - hence his resentment of FDR.

I don't think Jackie thought much more of Joe Kennedy than she did FDR. Her feelings about FDR probably came from her step father who was a big Republican supporter/contributor and became a real mentor to her. In fact, when her real father was too dead drunk to do it, her step father was who escorted her down the aisle when she married Kennedy.

How can that be? Didn’t Robert J. Dole once say that FDR was “a hero of mine.”

Caroline traded the tapes in exchange for the studio NOT to air the documentary about the family. The one starring Katie Holmes.

Jackie made the tapes with a stipulation the be held for 50 years or so after her death. Caroline overturned her wishes.

“I thought Caroline’s comments were incomprehensible. Weirdly contradicting what her mother so obviously meant.”

Exactly. It’s so fun when liberals’ perceptions are mugged by a thing known as reality.

“Jackie was a pretty savvy reader of people. I want to hear more. Plus, I really dig that New York accent of hers. Libs must be cringing.”

Michael Savage says the same thing when he aired tapes of her on his radio show. She was his favorite 1st Lady. Of course, that was the time period he describes as “When America was great, the chrome was thick and the women were straight.”
