You and I can at least agree about Morris.

Save your breath. Most people are so involved examining each grain of sand that they haven't noticed that they're standing on a beach. Comical as it seems, some people actually seem to think the tiniest detail in the most insignificant position paper and the skill with which a candidate answers the most trivial debate question will have an impact on the race.

Neither the primary nor the general election is going to turn on whether Rick Perry wants to build a fence in the middle of the Rio Grande. It isn't going to have anything to do with Merk or gardasil and it certainly isn't going to have anything to do with tuition at Texas state universities. The race is not to the swift, neither is it to the glib.

Perry is going to win both contests because he is the most conservative plausible candidate in a conservative year. The successful conservative Governor of Texas beats the one-and -done progressive Governor of Massachusetts going away. He also beats the failed radical left-wing President. It's that simple.

Is D-student Ricky too stupid to understand the Arizona anti-illegal law, or does he just favor illegal aliens over U.S. citizens?<p

Even if she is. Soros funded media will blast her with everything in their arsenal. Average low IQ voter won’t be able to identify that it is all fake lies and will vote for the Obamination

I talk to a lot of people and perry is not making a good impression at all. He comes across as arrogant, defensive, and not likable.

I would prefer cain or bachmann, but if its down to mitt or perry - I prefer romney.

I am not a moderate.

What I am saying is that being attacked by the far right will help Perry in the general election by immunizing him against the predictable attacks from the left that he is too far right. Moderates will hear the left screaming far right lunatic and the right screaming RINO and assume Perry is more moderate than he actually is, which will help him. Not with me, but with the moderates.

Tell me which states you think Romney will win and we can do some math and i’ll show you he can’t.

I’m not sold on Romney winning, but the idea that he couldn’t win and only Perry stands a chance is laughable. A path to the nomination means a scenario by which he could win.

(But yes, I do think Perry will fade the more people see and learn of him and his record.)

The polling data shows a steady decline in Perry's
numbers against Obama, while Romney is faring better.

Well, if it’s not Perry, then who? The only other realistic answer is Mittens.

Bachmann has dug herself into a hole she can’t get out of. Newt, Santorum, and Huntsman are jokes.

I like Cain but he’s unfortunately going nowhere.

“What cooked McCain’s goose”

In my unproveable opinion, McCain lost because he didn’t fight. I was shouting answers and challenges for him to say during his debates - he performed as though he were having a mild discussion and might vote for O himself.

No fire. No passion.

I liked McCain as a candidate and would have been so happy had he won. But he didn’t seem to ultimately want it. Same as the senior Bush for his 2nd term. He also seemed so vague and general. It was puzzling.

One of the things I like about Perry, so far, is his passion. He comes across as a fighter, and I like that.

I follow your line of reasoning and say the person who wins the Presidency this election is the one who most Americans really believe will deliver a better economy, specifically, a lower unemployment rate.

I can’t believe the majority of Americans will think that’s Obama, but who knows. I couldn’t believe they elected a man like him in the first place.

To protect US sovereignty there must be a full border fence, not just in metro areas.

This position is that of an activist, not a pragmatist. It's based in emotionalism.

A full fence for a 1,100 miles of river?

A full fence when manpower is the weak link?

A full fence when funding is scarce and the cost was projected at $50 billion for just 700 miles before labor, land acquisition and environmental lawsuits are factored in?

The activist's purity position of demanding a full fence exploits a mix of righteous pent up anger over federal abdication of responsibility and a lack of eduction on the issue details.

We need someone who will look at the facts, see what works best and where and take those steps to get the most bang for the buck.

That's where Perry's positioned--although not alone, Newt is there, maybe Cain too. Perry's the one onstage with the most real world experience in the matter. His border record is consistent and to the right of Bush and McCain.

Is Mitt "I'm-all-things-to-all-people" Romney credible when he says he'll build the full fence? Or Huntsman?

Has Bachmann introduced bills to do so? No.

Not that I can find.

I went to the Library of Congress site (THOMAS) and searched for her legislative record (110th-112th Congresses).

Just 27 bills she has authored or co-sponsored saw floor action in her 3 terms.

She sponsored no bills improving border security (terms used: bachmann border). None. Why is she believable?

I think most folks assume where there's
a river, there's also a shore on either
side of it.

Rant much? LOL

>>>>>This position is that of an activist, not a pragmatist. It's based in emotionalism.

I think its the position of a conservative and patriot. If I was an activist I'd be down on the border with the minute men. I'm pretty calm about it. If I wasn't I wouldn't consider Perry a viable candidate worth my time defending and in the end, possibly worth my vote.

The liberal Romney is totally unacceptable and Bachmann is in meltdown.

Btw, the cost of building a full security fence/wall --- where possible --- would pay for itself in no time. The taxpayer money that is being spent by border states on infrastructure, healthcare, education and local law enforcement related to illegal aliens burdening the system amounts to tens of billions of dollars a year. IIRC, California spends $5-billion a year on the children of illegals alone. That $50 billion construction figure you mention is about right. Securing the border would slash the current cost to ALL the states and would pay for itself in a few years.

[Perry’s biggest problem is he looks a lot like Bush 3.0]

“And you would prefer Obama 2.0? “

No, but if Perry is just a Bush clone, I will be out of the US. Have already moved a lot of assets. Others will see the handwriting on the wall.

[Stay home = give the Supreme Court nominations away to the Rats.]

Oh, I get the implication, vote for the Bush clone or else. But I suspect the country is lost if Perry gets in because it will be crony capitalism continued. In that case, I’ll be on the first lifeboat off the sinking ship, you can fight over the last ones.
