I must respond to your post. It is true that the left-wing CBC is “left-wing”, and hopefully they will be forced to stand on their own or fall (hoping for a fall), because I hate any of my tax dollars going to them, but .... on the other hand, how about NPR and PBS in the U.S? They aren’t biased? They aren’t left-wing? So a plague is on both our houses, right? But our “Fox News of the North”, our fledgling Sun News Network, is making headway here — maybe you should change channels..... besides, there are other networks in Canada other than the CBC. In my experience, Canadian television is a mirror-image of U.S. television, same shows, etc., except for local advertising. So don’t paint everyone with the same brush, we are very diverse in our makeup and opinions - and have you noticed we now have a majority CONSERVATIVE government? (We got OUR hope and change, lol!)

Maybe with their help, the media malpractice will be totally acknowledged by the guilty parties, and America will never have to witness such a disgraceful episode again.

We all know the truth of what will happen, and it isn't pretty.

It will be like Moses and the wandering Jews.

The press will not admit what it did, and change will not come until this generation of reporters dies off, including the likes of Jennings (already gone), Brokaw, Rather, Mike Wallace, Morley Safer, Leslie Stahl, Bill Plante, Bob Shieffer, Harry Smith, Charlie Rose, Barbara Walters, Charles Osgood, and the rest of the elders.

Then we have the next generation to worry about, including Katie Couric, Brian Williams, Chris Matthews, Andrea Mitchell, Ann Compton, David Gregory, Matt Lauer, et. al.

Never mind the newcomers.

This whole thing was a setup from the beginning.

No candidate received Secret Service protection as soon as Barack did, who announced nearly two years before the election.

In fact, my memory recalls Secret Service Protection being extended only to prevailing nominees for each party once they are chosen.

And then we got served a pile of Shiite from the sands of Arizona in the name of Juan McCain.

I don't think Noel Sheppard is Canadian. He lives in Pleasanton, CA, and was a business owner before becoming famous through Newsbusters.

Not a bad idea — you’d be very welcome — and J D Fortune came from there too (lots of good-looking Nova Scotians.) That’s where my family settled originally, (”New Scotland”) before moving west to explore the mountains and the prairies. I have traveled extensively in the U.S. and Canada, and everywhere I’ve gone, I’ve been made to feel welcome and “at home”. There are only three states I haven’t yet been to - Hawaii, Alaska and Washington State. But Alaska is high up on my list.

Oh, most certainly.

While we in the U.S. view Canada as a “socialist” country there are many aspects of Canadian Confederation we don’t take into account. If we American’s had to pay a state, i.e. New York, to stay with us and support the Union..............I have no doubt the crap would have hit the fan decades ago. I do realize that what keeps Canada together as a nation is the distribution of tax revenues as opposed to some serious nationalistic heritage. We see their “national” health care system as a single entity while it is clearly not.

We Americans ponder the semi-routine referendums that Alberta and Saskatchewan have regarding Confederation and State-hood and say “whoa, wait..........another state?”

No, I get it entirely. Canada, as we know, is the North American country that is not part of the U.S. and so many within those borders will do anything to not be a part of the American association. The money’s too good to tether themselves to another country which might have other nationa goals or policies. Yeah. I get it..

Well, max - may I call you max? - what you're actually doing is opining.

Opinions are not necessarily facts.

Opinions are like - ah - noses. Every ones got one.

They completely abrogated their proper and just responsibilities of vetting an unknown candidate for the most powerful post in the world...

Sure, but where were the senior Republicans? All it would have taken is a joint press conference by the House and Senate Republican leadership to blast every one of the styrofoam demigod's deceptions into full public view, no matter how hard the media tried to cover for him. They instead actively tried to discredit Obama's critics, and assured the voters there was "nothing to be afraid of."

as I hope this is the case I have to ask: How - exactly - will the press be held to account?

The media's most valuable asset is it's credibility, and it's very hard to regain once you have lost it.
I like many others has not read a newspaper in years nor watched the evening news on TV. It's full of distortions and omissions. I can get better information from the Internet including a variety of view points.

"I'm not worried about what anyone in the writes, it's what they didn't write that is the problem."

Please review this sentence you wrote.

Self-fulfilling prophecy perhaps?

Canadian Commentator: The Press Gave America 'An Untried, Unknown,' 'Incompetent Figure As President'

But of course this Commentator is correct and all should know it by now. But I wouldn't count him out just yet. I will never underestimate the stupidity of the American Voter.
