The Transportation Security Administration fired 28 of its employees -- in addition to three that resigned or retired -- following a probe that revealed bags were allowed onto planes at Hawaii's Honolulu International Airport without being properly screened, the agency said Sunday.

Another 15 people were suspended, the TSA reported in a statement.

The moves come after the agency "completed the adjudication process" it had announced in June, months after the allegations first surfaced. ...

In March, Honolulu's KITV 4 News reported that TSA officers assigned to a morning shift regularly allowed checked bags to be loaded onto flights on nine daily departures without being screened for explosives. Sources told the TV station that such lapses occurred for as long as four months and involved thousands of checked bags. ...

If 46 people were involved at just one airport what's going on at the rest of them?

There are no inferior workers, only inferior supervisors. The top TSA supervisors should be in the group of 28 that were canned.

Who knows?
They might have simply used their heads - unheard-of for TSA employees, I know! - and said “There are no freakin’ Arabs on the plane, we’re good!”

Anyone know if these fired TSA hacks were hired by the Obama Administration for high level posts yet? Perhaps they were hired by the DNC to help with the 2012 campaigns.

The article says 9 daily scheduled flights. Having lived in Hawaii, and on several other Pacific islands, I’d have to ask where the flights were going and the majority demographic. Island life will never fall in line with the continental U.S. We’re occupiers. Some hate that, some like the perks, but we’re still foreigners to them. Back to my original question- how many were the morning inter-island commuters or flights to other Pacific Islands? There just isn’t enough information to get my panties in a bunch. I know too much about how things work with the Pacific Islands and the various aviation authorities. If everyone on the plane is a relative or a friend of a friend...seriously. It might not be right, but it’s not shocking.

They could tell the bags had not been “properly screened” because the passengers’ laptops, jewelry and other valuables packed in the bags had not been stolen.
