NEW YORK - Rick Perry, on a two-day swing to raise campaign funds here, also appears to be hoping to rob the Democrats of votes.
The Republican presidential candidate is scheduled to meet Monday afternoon in Harlem with Hispanic leaders.
Some members of the Hispanic community have been disenchanted with President Obama because he has failed to deliver on his promise to enact a sweeping immigration reform bill.
While none of the Republican presidential hopefuls has expressed support for giving some of the estimated 11 million people now living in the U.S. illegally a path to citizenship, Perry has broken with Republican conservative orthodoxy on immigration.
The Texas governor opposes extending the fence along the U.S.-Mexico border as impractical, and has backed offering in-state tuition to students in his state who were brought to the country illegally by their parents.
On Tuesday, Perry has scheduled a morning press conference to express support for Israel ahead of a speech Friday by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at the United Nations, where he is expected to seek full U.N. membership for the Palestinian Authority. Israel opposes the recognition.
President Obama is also opposing the Palestinian request, but his support for a Palestinian state, based on Israel returning some of the land it acquired after the 1967 war with its Arab neighbors, has aroused strong opposition among conservatives and became an issue in a New York City special congressional election which Republican Bob Turner won last week in an upset.

The article is about Perry meeting with hispanics in NYC. Right away some people bring up the illegal issue. I don’t think the article is saying he’s meeting with Pancho who came across the border in the dark of night.

He got booed over his snarky little remark when talking about the Texas Dream Act.
He doesn’t pander to them US non hispanics that look kinda white.

You Perry cheerleaders’ arguments are weak. You just want to kick this can down the road to our children. And our children are going to angry enough with us when we get up from the table and leave them the bill for what’s happening now, much less having to deal then with another 10-20 per cent of Mexico’s, say 30 or 40 million hungry, ailing cast-offs expecting that los Estados Unidos are Mexico’s Dept. of Health, Education and Welfare.

Perry wants conservative ascendancy not continued social engineering and an open border.
He wants government to get out of the way and let people invest and make money — drive the economy.
He wants the EPA to back off.
He wants energy independence.
He wants trial lawyers to stop over suing.
He wants taxes lowered.
He wants what we all want.
Millions of Americans completely out of work, jammed roads, hospitals, limited resources, etc, and what's this corrupt government do? These SOBs import tens of thousands of Muslims, and hundreds of thousands from God knows where on a routine basis... Good for us?

I see that so much on FR that "illegal immigration bad, legal immigration good". We have had major problems with legal immigration in this country.
It's no where near good at the current levels. It's national suicide even without the illegal aliens.
