The New Most Dangerous Cities In America (Drum Roll... Here are your top 25)
Business Insider ^ | 09/19/2011 | Leah Goldman and Kevin Lincoln

For the fifth year in a row, crime is down in the United States, according to the FBI. The 2010 final statistics released today show a 6.0% drop in violent crimes from last year's report -- better than the 5.5% announced in the preliminary findings in May.

Violent crime is down 13.2% from 2006 and 13.4% from 2001.

But parts of the country are getting worse.

Flint, Michigan -- the most violent city in America -- saw a 10% increase in violent crime over last year, with 2,208 violent crimes per 100,000 people. Rust Belt neighbor Detroit was only slightly safer.

The cities on this list are ranked by violent crimes, including murder, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault, per 100,000 people.

Just out of curiosity I took a look at today’s local news for an idea of how my county is doing and found a front page story that says crime was down 13% last year. However the lead story today was about a man who stabbed a woman and barricaded himself in a home. (Down in the hood)

I know for a fact that #5 Memphis Tn. has been run by the Dems for the past 20 years.

I will say that Downtown Memphis at night is extremely safe, and that most violent crimes are black on black.

My biggest problem was the hookers....nasty and diseased crackheads were fearless in soliciting you..and they would get really pissed when you blow them off...

Probably not the best three words to end with.

Crime is “down” only because security is UP . . . WAY UP

Something like 95% are Democratic cities.

Note to self: Don’t move to any city named Springfield.

Or any large cities in a state named Michigan...

MIS is just outside Brooklyn. In fact, I doubt Brooklyn would have more than 1000 people if it weren’t for the track right there.

Correlation is not causation, of course, but it sure looks like there are above average Amish populations in every one of those cities. And heavily Hispanic Southern California didn’t earn a single Top 25 listing.

West of the Mississippi is OK save for the usual CA suspects. Noticed no cities in our second largest state (by population). Denver, PHX, PDX, SEA all OK.

Yes, New Haven (#4), Hartford (#14) and Springfield (#12) are dangerous liberal dumps. I have a buddy who is a utility worker...he is not allowed to work anywhere in Hartford without a police escort.

What do they have in common? Democrats run for mayor or city council, frequently unopposed, and win easily. They are not accountable.

Why is NYC NOT on the list? The mayor of NYC is just as likely to be a republican as a democrat. The mayor is accountable. And kudos to Rudy - NYC still feels the good policies that he enacted years ago.

I don’t know if I’d call it a problem. Most of the crimes appear to domestic fights. A few months back a guy was arrested after chasing the police around the yard with a chainsaw.
