Tea Party Presses Perry on Illegal Immigration
The Texas Tribune ^ | Sept. 19, 2011

Posted on 09/19/2011 6:07:02 PM PDT by T.L.Sink

Tea Party leaders confronted Rick Perry in his own back yard calling on him to use his power as governor to crack down on illegal immigration. JoAnn Fleming, chair of the Tea Party Caucus Advisory Committee of the Texas Legislature said, "The ball is in Gov. Perry's court. He needs to make a decision. He's running out of time." Perry favors giving in-state tuition to certain illegal immigrants which has put him at odds with many Tea Party activists. Ken Emmanuelson, a Dallas Tea Party activist, said Perry should issue an executive order overturning a Texas Department of Public Safety policy that they say has turned Texas into something of a sanctuary state. Tea Party activists are promising to hold Perry's feet to the fire over illegal immigration. Perry has been a vocal foe of a long border wall and said in 2001 he was "intrigued and open" to an amnesty proposal for Mexican workers made by George Bush. Perry's chief opponent, Mitt Romney, vetoed a similar in-state tuition bill when governor of Massachusetts, saying it would provide incentives to illegal immigrants.

Illegal immigration is Perry’s Achilles heal.

I don’t expect to see him really change his position on this issue.
His actions have already demonstrated his true position on benefits to illegals and what we can expect if he is elected. He will not shut down illegal border crossing and will advocvate some form of Shamnesty.

How many dissenting voices were there in the Texas Legislature because Perry didn’t do this in a vacuum.

Rick Perry = The Other McCain

Katrina Pierson, a member of the Dallas Tea Party’s steering committee, said “Governor Perry has not met the standards, for me, to be the President of the United States if he can’t even address the real issues here in Texas.

In addition, Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who will also visit Iowa this week, has acknowledged his personal affection for the Governor, but has also stated that he does not agree with Perry’s rhetoric regarding the border or immigration.

As well they should.

His TX DREAM Act is going to deny American kids seats in college classrooms to make room for illegal kids.

It’s just “the right thing to do” afterall.

The kernel..the nugget of it all is taxes, regulation, and immigration

The story of American jobs and labor is deeply intertwined with predatory Federal, state and local taxation and regulation....

South Koreans sleep soundly on their border with NORKS because of American Taxpayer dollars and the American GI.

Why can’t Texans, New Mexicans, Arizonans and Californians?....BECAUSE

Illegal immigration is THE KEY to the perpetuation of the status quo in DC......

Predatory tax and regulatory policies-actions that basically serve to perpetuate and grow governments-leave what business is left in the country seeking disposable labor.

Illegal Labor is the Feds out for preserving the status quo regarding Taxes and Regulation. Interestingly, that is WHY the Feds encourage in-state tuition etc for illegals under-the-table -their presence providing disposable labor allows Federal, State and local regulatory and tax excess in the status quo to continue

Immigration is the ultimate litmus test as to the candidates in question commitment to meaningful regulatory and tax reform. If they are wishy-washy on the subject...they have no real intent to disturb the DC status quo...no matter how big their cowboy hat and six-gun.

Real”leadership” is that which will place Flyover Country’s interest ahead of the Feds....haven’t yet seen anything meaningful anywhere from anybody to indicate that might happen. We have just one more election cycle to make that happen via rule of law. Otherwise its the end of the run for America.

What is wrong with him? J. McCain ran after illegal aliens more than B. Obama and the Hispanics still did not vote for him.

The issues facing our country right now are huge and serious.

1. Jobs

2. Economy

3. Repeal of Obamacare

4. Wars

5. Illegal Aliens.

I will not vote against any candidate based on any one of these issues. Whichever is the best on most of them will get my vote and should gets yours as well.

Illegal immigration and corrupt crony capitalism.

Two aspects of the corrupt Trans Texas Corridor project were A. seizure of land through imminent domain at intersections to sell to restaurant, filling station and industrial park developers and B. A treaty between the state of Texas and a foreign corporation to the effect that Texas would not widen north/south interstates as needed for decades as that would compete with the toll road. Guess if traffic between Ft. Worth and Denton became a molasses nightmare that would have been too bad.

You will note that many of the people pushing Perry were pushing Giuliani in 2008. Same open borders corrupt government contract crowd.

Illegal immigration is Perry’s Achilles heal.

Yup, I like Perry, but his immigration positions are troubling to say the least.

The idea we can't build a fence is a bunch of crap. In-state tuition for illegals is also nothing but bad.

Considering our options at this point are probably Perry or Romney, I would definitely choose Perry - almost enthusiastically. Still, he really needs to come around to something more sensible on immigration (and better explain his position on social security) or his campaign is going to run into real trouble.

PLEASE WARN EVERYONE YOU CAN:
SMITH’S WORKPLACE ENFORCEMENT BILL 2885 is bad news because of preemption language. It will forever cede all Fed authority over to Feds on enforcement. National Former Border Patrol Agents Issued a press release against it. It’s a trap.Must be stopped!
