Posted on 09/19/2011 6:07:02 PM PDT by T.L.Sink
Tea Party leaders confronted Rick Perry in his own back yard calling on him to use his power as governor to crack down on illegal immigration. JoAnn Fleming, chair of the Tea Party Caucus Advisory Committee of the Texas Legislature said, "The ball is in Gov. Perry's court. He needs to make a decision. He's running out of time." Perry favors giving in-state tuition to certain illegal immigrants which has put him at odds with many Tea Party activists. Ken Emmanuelson, a Dallas Tea Party activist, said Perry should issue an executive order overturning a Texas Department of Public Safety policy that they say has turned Texas into something of a sanctuary state. Tea Party activists are promising to hold Perry's feet to the fire over illegal immigration. Perry has been a vocal foe of a long border wall and said in 2001 he was "intrigued and open" to an amnesty proposal for Mexican workers made by George Bush. Perry's chief opponent, Mitt Romney, vetoed a similar in-state tuition bill when governor of Massachusetts, saying it would provide incentives to illegal immigrants.

Illegal immigration is Perry’s Achilles heal.
I don’t expect to see him really change his position on this issue.
His actions have already demonstrated his true position on benefits to illegals and what we can expect if he is elected. He will not shut down illegal border crossing and will advocvate some form of Shamnesty.
I dont care which party or which philosophy.
We are dealing with POLITICIANS here folks!!
How many dissenting voices were there in the Texas Legislature because Perry didn’t do this in a vacuum.
The alternative is Romney and this is one issue out of a thousand that Mitt is better on.
Katrina Pierson, a member of the Dallas Tea Partys steering committee, said Governor Perry has not met the standards, for me, to be the President of the United States if he cant even address the real issues here in Texas.
In addition, Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who will also visit Iowa this week, has acknowledged his personal affection for the Governor, but has also stated that he does not agree with Perrys rhetoric regarding the border or immigration.
The Perrywinkies say CFR-Ric is the Tea Party candidate.
They wouldn't lie to us, would the?
Slick Rick is making the rounds.
What group will he pander to next? lets see, eneey meenie minie mo....
Lesbian mud wrestling midgets?
Transsexual Eskimo Buddhists
ROTFL, those guys have to come after the mud wrestling lesbo midgets.
But I am sure the slickster won’t leave them out.
As well they should.
His TX DREAM Act is going to deny American kids seats in college classrooms to make room for illegal kids.
It’s just “the right thing to do” afterall.
The kernel..the nugget of it all is taxes, regulation, and immigration
The story of American jobs and labor is deeply intertwined with predatory Federal, state and local taxation and regulation....
South Koreans sleep soundly on their border with NORKS because of American Taxpayer dollars and the American GI.
Why cant Texans, New Mexicans, Arizonans and Californians?....BECAUSE
Illegal immigration is THE KEY to the perpetuation of the status quo in DC......
Predatory tax and regulatory policies-actions that basically serve to perpetuate and grow governments-leave what business is left in the country seeking disposable labor.
Illegal Labor is the Feds out for preserving the status quo regarding Taxes and Regulation. Interestingly, that is WHY the Feds encourage in-state tuition etc for illegals under-the-table -their presence providing disposable labor allows Federal, State and local regulatory and tax excess in the status quo to continue
Immigration is the ultimate litmus test as to the candidates in question commitment to meaningful regulatory and tax reform. If they are wishy-washy on the subject...they have no real intent to disturb the DC status quo...no matter how big their cowboy hat and six-gun.
Realleadership is that which will place Flyover Countrys interest ahead of the Feds....havent yet seen anything meaningful anywhere from anybody to indicate that might happen. We have just one more election cycle to make that happen via rule of law. Otherwise its the end of the run for America.
The issues facing our country right now are huge and serious.
3. Repeal of Obamacare
5. Illegal Aliens.
I will not vote against any candidate based on any one of these issues. Whichever is the best on most of them will get my vote and should gets yours as well.
Two aspects of the corrupt Trans Texas Corridor project were A. seizure of land through imminent domain at intersections to sell to restaurant, filling station and industrial park developers and B. A treaty between the state of Texas and a foreign corporation to the effect that Texas would not widen north/south interstates as needed for decades as that would compete with the toll road. Guess if traffic between Ft. Worth and Denton became a molasses nightmare that would have been too bad.
You will note that many of the people pushing Perry were pushing Giuliani in 2008. Same open borders corrupt government contract crowd.
Yup, I like Perry, but his immigration positions are troubling to say the least.
The idea we can't build a fence is a bunch of crap. In-state tuition for illegals is also nothing but bad.
Considering our options at this point are probably Perry or Romney, I would definitely choose Perry - almost enthusiastically. Still, he really needs to come around to something more sensible on immigration (and better explain his position on social security) or his campaign is going to run into real trouble.
PLEASE WARN EVERYONE YOU CAN:
SMITH’S WORKPLACE ENFORCEMENT BILL 2885 is bad news because of preemption language. It will forever cede all Fed authority over to Feds on enforcement. National Former Border Patrol Agents Issued a press release against it. It’s a trap.Must be stopped!
Why post from a rag who’s sole purpose is to smear Perry?
Counting on Romney to stay strong on any issue is a fallacy. Willard places expediency above principle. Always has and always will. Romney supported the McCain-Kennedy-Bush comprehensive immigration reform bill before he was against it.
Are they running for office as well, if not that is a childish cover.
No worries. I’m not a single issue voter.
Can’t pass up an opportunity slam Willard. ;^)

He might win over Jon Stewart and his ilk... if he supported lesbian mud wrestling midgets!
If RP gets the R nod, what-cha-gunna-do, not vote and let Obummer slide back for another 4? If you fuss and sit it out because Perry is the nominee, you won’t have another chance to turn this behemoth around. At least with Perry, you can curtail his border friendly attitude with, “not with our money you don’t”...
Childish because the State Legislature voted without dissent for the Texas Dream Act?
And Perry supported what the people of the State of Texas, via their elected representatives, wanted?
So when Perry goes along with the Legislature you hate him; when he goes against the Legislature you hate him, then, too?
Yes, you are the paragon of mature logic and reasoning! /s
3k signatures from a population of over 25 million.
Yup, Texans are all wee wee’d up.
Compared to yourself you’re still not very bright.
Your straw man arguments need work.
Just admit it, you either have PDS or a huge crush on the man.
Nothing else could explain your irrational behavior towards him.
I never saw any mention of an amnesty deal involving Hispanic illegals anywhere in the news, articles, TV in TX. So as far as I know Perry made no such comments at anytime.
Not true, I did not support Giuliani, nor do I like open borders. I am well award of all these issues since I am from TX. However, it was not passed by the Legislature therefore became a dead issue.
What slander! However, that seems to cover all of your comments posted on this board.
That is great, laying aside all your! childish attacks, if you are proud of the rino in Texas, then keep him down there. And leave the balance of the good people of america along. No problem. Now go hug and illegal.
He needs to be challenged on this BEFORE he gets the nod and he should address it. It is a LEGITIMATE concern to many Tea Party’ers and conservatives.
The illegal alien problem is not going to be solved by granting them special privileges normally reserved for those residents of the state who are legal, taxpaying citizens.
Exposing all of the candidates’ warts needs to be done, not just those who aren’t named Rick Perry.
I am amazed at the number of FReepers who berate and badmouth any other FReeper who just says “slow down, let’s take a closer look at this guy and what his record is”.
Need to come back to a real winning sorespot like gardisil, yep that one has served your gal MB well, seein she's down to 5% in the polls.
Now tell us the truth for just this once, you really are still just holding a grudge against Perry over Truther Deb Medina's harikari in the last Texas Governor Debate.
Jerry Jeff said it well, you're just pissin in the wind.
Lesbian mud wrestling midgets?
Ain’t your Dr. Strange ronpaul already working that side of the street?
Slander, you have no ideal what the word means, and damn sure are in the dark as to when it occurs. But you have demonstrated your like of formal education.
That is my take too.
I know there are some on here for which immigration is a deal breaker. I can respect that.
For me though, I would rather have a guy who I agree with on 98% of the issues (and then try to hold his feet to the fire on immigration), than a guy who I agree with on about 20% of the issues.
If Perry is knocked out, then I think it almost guarantees a Romney nomination. That frightens me to no end.
Oh, believe me, it will come up in the debates.
The idea we can’t build a fence is a bunch of crap
Think about it. Where would this fence be on the Texas border? Unlike kalifornia and Arizona and Nuevo Mexico, Our Texas border is in the middle of the river. You think they’d be able to build a fence in the the middle of the Rio Grande? Maybe Mexico would let us build a fence on their side of the Rio Grande? Don’t think so, so that leaves it on our side, all but a smidgen is private land. Would you want to have to give up your land and access to the river for some fence the coyotes will cut the second night its up, just like they do everywhere else?
The answer isn’t a fence, the best solution is to remove the super attraction, jobs. No jobs, no welfare (by the way the Fed Gov constantly recruits illegals to sign up for all the programs). The drug smugglers, just shot em swimming the river, problem solved.
Show me where I am wrong.
>>> “ Perry didnt do this in a vacuum.” <<<
Thank you for mentioning the above FACT. Not every illegal is a gun totin’, anchor baby plottin’, drug runnin’, welfare suckin’ Mexicans who are raping out economy. These college students are illegal and need to pay up and pay off, but then should be counted among those who might earn citizenship. After all, our government enforced nothing for decades. Perry is about controlling the border, immigration numbers and enforcement. The laws are already on the books.
I wonder if the illegal kids are going to be promoted to college ahead of American kids and I wonder if they will be getting lots of scholarships from the big leftist foundations? Look at what happened to those firefighters who were denied promotions to those who scored far lower scores on their tests? Welcome to the new America—back of the line whitey.
“Intrigued and open to amnesty”?
It’s really starting to get past the point where I can even hold my nose and vote for this guy.
There’s more to this than meets the eye. Perhaps Romney campaign mischief at play.
The paulnutz post from the SOROS funded TxTrib because that’s the only place they can get made up smear fodder. Anyone posting or quoting from the TxTrib knows who they are dealing with, no innocents use that rag.
Now, they all claim to be sweet little Bachmann or Palin fans, its just a cover they hide under because everyone recognizes paulnutz for the skunks they are.
