LOL. Suddenly Hussein is an expert in business. Hussein's devotion to union thuggery will probably mean the bad service at the post office will get worse.

Good idea. Keep paying all those union employees the same amount, or more, for LESS WORK. The union view in a nutshell ...

I wonder how many jobs will be cut by this move? One less day of junk mail.

Gov. cannot manage a postal service, social security or medicare, but they want to manage PUBLIC HEALTHCARE?????

Never thought I'd live to see the day that this country would fall to this, thanks Bambi!

Another flush of the constitution. The postal service, as financially inefficient as it is, is one of the very few constitutional responsibilities of the federal government.

Hey Hussein, how about shutting down federal government one day a week — those unemployment numbers will look 20% better for you overnight!

I think this should be approved as long as it can be trumpeted as Obama’s cutback.

This affects his base, since they’ll have to wait an extra day for the check to come. Not to mention ticking off seniors.

The GOP president can make real cuts and bring back Saturday delivery.

They should definitely get rid of Saturday delivery.

On the rural side, it would just be the Associate carriers. They work on the 6th day that the regular carriers can’t work (prevents an OT situation) and vacations/sick days. The associates would probably *quit* for lack of hours and having to be on call.

“They should definitely get rid of Saturday delivery.”

Why? See post #5.

“Hmmmm......Joe......if we lay off postal employees, they won’t have money to give to the Democrat party and they won’t vote for us. How do we get out of this one?”
“It’s simple.....provide less service to their customers. What the hell do we care about Saturday delivery as long as the donations and votes keep rolling in.””

There are thousands of contract workers who only deliver mail on Sat. I know someone who does this. Most have other jobs and do this for some extra money. Those jobs would no longer be necessary.

That’s not enough of a cutback, though. The pension and healthcare costs are where the real money is.

Correct.

Remember all the homeless stories under Reagan (and that's when the economy was booming). Where's all the homeless stories now?

Yes ,the Post Offices are a Constitutional obligation. But that does not mean that mail has to be delivered to the recipient. What says that the mail can’t be held at the Post Office for pick up of delivered to the recipient twice a week?

No jobs will be lost. They will still have the same amount of mail to deliver. Just one less day to deliver it.

As long as the corresponding number of postal service employees are put out of work, I’d have no problem with three day a week postal service. I don’t think I even have a monthly bill that isn’t sent/paid electronically. Most of the crap that shows up in my apartment mailbox is junk mail, catalogs, and stuff for the former tenant (a year and a half after he moved out).

So, let’s think this through.

8 hours less work per week; so are we dropping the entire Post Office staff to part-time workers, thus saving money on benefits (part time workers are inelgible for many perks, including vaction, sick leave, insurance, pension, 401K); or are we terminating 1/7th of the Post Office Staff?

None, at least at the USPS.
They’re government union, so they will continue to get paid, dues deducted and sent to democRats, per usual.
