Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) said Tuesday that his committee plans to investigate government loan programs to private corporations in light of allegations of improper dealings between the White House and failed energy company Solyndra and wireless start-up LightSquared.
"I want to see when the president and his cronies are picking winners and losers it wasn't because there were large contributions given to them," the chairman of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee said Tuesday morning on C-SPAN.
Issa said the committee was looking at whether it was improper for members of Congress or White House staff to select companies eligible for subsidized government loans when those companies could give campaign donations. Loan programs have been a popular tool to provide funding for popular industries like tech, green energy, and American auto companies at more favorable terms than could be secured privately.

Good!
This is not sex. Good luck there explaining this with the election coming up, 0bama!
My question is “What will happen to the information once Issa completes his study?” Will Congress take that information and prosecute anyone?
We can rest assured that there will be in-depth investigations in the NY Times and Washington Post...into Issa.
good, but the pubies never do anything about it.
Issa needs a few lodge-sized stoves to cook all the pots of corruption intrigue that have landed in his kitchen. Just deeming Solyndra and LightSquared as worthy of attention among all this other stuff, has to say something.
Yea cause he did so much with the fast and furious.
It would be nice if impeachment were undertaken, but those brass donkey heads in the Senate would go nowhere with it. It’s probably being saved up for a big “shame on the Democrats” campaign push in 2012.
He’s got Holder squirming.
I’d like to know more about Barry’s investment in LightSquared.
Where will this lead? Eric Holder will do nothing. There is no special prosecutor. Even if the House of Representatives spent the next year on impeachment proceedings 0bama would not be convicted in the Senate.
It’s a moldy old cliche, I know...but imagine if this was the Bush Administration. We’d never hear the end of it.
Rep Issa seems to be the only good politician from California...
Why the rush, Issa? Isn’t Holder gonna do an investigation any second now? /sarc
Yes, all this hoopla about congressional investigations is just a “Barackolypse Now Redux” of the 90s.
How did that work out trying to bust the Clinton Cartel?
It just made Clinton look more cool by beating the law.

Are you kidding?

My local fish wrap, The Albuquerque Journal, has not had boo about either of these stories. I first emailed the editor and asked why that was but after a few days got no response. So today I called the managing editor and asked specifically about why the story of the 4-Star saying he was aked to alter congressional testimony has not been in the paper. The ME actually told me she was unaware of the story and had not seen anything about it! That was either BS or the ME of my local paper lives under a rock (or only watches MSNBC, which is always a possibility)
