This story has legs... four legs (or six, counting the groom).
To be honest, I am not sure if I believe that story, but things sure could have changed. It used to be in Germany that you could not give a baby a name that meant to ridicule the baby or give a boy a name that is female. For example Marion is strictly a name for girls in German, while here it can be used for either boys or girls. John Wayne’s real first name was Marion

Marriage is a Sacrament a Holy Union of GOD, woman and man. Without God there is no marriage.
Marriage is not just a contract or a partnership or companionship and definitely not just about sex. It is prayerfulness, duty and companionship and sex and partnership and love and hope etc.
To reduce it to just a union leads to the wrong conclusion that "gay marriage" is ok.
