Attorney General in Mexico: 200 Murders Result of Operation Fast and Furious
Town Hall ^ | 9//20/11 | Katie Pavlich

Posted on 09/20/2011 11:37:47 AM PDT by Nachum

In a conference call this morning with Chairman of the House Oversight Committee Darrell Issa, reporters were told the Attorney General in Mexico has confirmed at least 200 murders south of the border happened as a result of Operation Fast and Furious. Eleven crimes in the United States have been linked to Operation Fast and Furious up to this point. Issa said he expects as the investigation in the operation continues, more crimes connected to Fast and Furious will come to light and be exposed. This is not surprising, considering out of 2500 weapons the Obama Justice Department allowed to “walk,” and that only 600 have been recovered, the rest are lost until they show up at violent crime scenes. The damage from Operation Fast and Furious has only started to be seen. Remember, the Mexican Government and ATF agents working in Mexico were left completely in the dark about the operation.

July 26, 2011

A new report released by Issa’s office shows ATF agents working in Mexico were left in the dark about the details of Operation Fast and Furious. The report shows that in late 2009, ATF officials in Mexico began to see increasing amounts of guns traced to the Phoenix ATF Field Division office showing up at violent crime scenes. Former ATF Attaché to Mexico Darren Gil and ATF Acting Attaché to Mexico Carlos Canino expressed their concerns to officials in the Phoenix Field Office and in Washington D.C. but were ignored. The report shows ATF and DOJ “failed to share crucial details of the of Operation Fast and Furious with either their own employees stationed in Mexico or representatives of the Government of Mexico.” Specifically, personnel in Arizona denied ATF agents working in Mexico information directly related to their jobs and everyday operations.

More like an act of war since the gov did this directly and not through cutouts.

You gotta fold Eric Holder
Before he gets older
His creepy lawlessness
Is almost done

You never count on leftists
To protect our country’s interests
‘Cause when they’re done with their mischief
The results ain’t fun.

Is it possible that this is not about tracking guns but about getting guns into Mexico?

You are late to this story, I think.

Gunrunner was a program started under the Bush Admin that would allow firearm transfers to suspected gun traffickers. Those firearms all had GPS tracking devices inside and arrests were made shortly after the perpetrator left the store (to deliver the goods) or if they were close to the border.

In 2009, the program was altered and a new chapter, called Fast and Furious was started. This is where sales were forced by BATFE (the buyer failed the instant background check) even though the dealer was seeing the same people come back over and over again.

The firearms did not have tracking equipment in them and no effort was made to follow the firearms. Most crossed the border into Mexico (hence, some journalists called it Gun Walker).

It is now revealed that this program was not just in Phoenix, but in Florida and Indiana as well. Congress cannot get answers if it took place in Texas as well.

We have also found out that some of the criminals were paid government informants using taxpayer money to purchase firearms (even though they were convicted felons) and selling those firearms in Mexico to drug gangs.

When some BATFE agents raised concerns with their managers about allowing these firearms to escape into criminal hands, those managers told them (from an e-mail) "you have to break some eggs to make omlettes"

The DOJ was involved (they oversee the BATFE) and we know other departments were involved. All are blocking Congressional investigations into the matter.

There are e-mails and statements proving this program was known by people in the White House as well.

I think that summarizes the issue, but others may add more.

Knowingly supplying murderers with weapons goes a little beyond the basic liberal logic that more guns means more crime. I think even the slowest in society will understand that “murderers kill people” and that specifically arming murderers is a little different than simply having firearms available to the general public.

If someone had done the same to us, we would call it terrorism.

If you peruse the comments on articles re Gun Walker in the Mexican press you'll find that the Mexican street considers it terrorism or, more specifically, they see it as an attempt by the Nortes to destabilize the Mexican gov't as a pretext to invade and seize the northern Mexican states.

Ha...pallet loads of drug money can buy all the weapons you want

....grenades, IED's and rocket launchers were not in Fast and Furious but are used by the Mexican drug gangs.

It was all about getting more identifiably American guns into the mix. That way they can blame American gun culture for their problems.

That is one reason you are not hearing much out of Mexico over this.

Of course some Mexicans have no idea what is going on and will jump at any reason to attack the U.S.
