Senior Palestinian negotiator Nabil Shaath said Wednesday that the Palestinians' statehood bid at the United Nations is the only alternative to violence, stressing that the UN move will give the Palestinians the change to promote their rights.
"The UN is the only alternative to violence," Shaath said during a press conference on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly."It will be very costly to us and the Israelis. Our new heroes are Gandhi, Mandela and Martin Luther King."

I was thinking more along the lines of Georgia ticking off Russia, or what would happen if the PKK got a Kurdish homeland and used it to attack Turkey.
I have another alternative. Israel destroys the Palestinians for shelling their towns for years and years and there will be peace.

I’ve given that metaphor due thought. Consider:
A rattlesnake head is dangerous long after it is severed.
In 2004 the Israelis were offing one Hamas or Fatah bigwig after another and others sprang up to take their place and even lectured the Jews to stop killing them.
The many-headed Hydra may be a more apt metaphor. Kill one head and the monster quickly regenerates more heads.
Convincing hasn’t seemed to work with the palis. They must simply be killed in such numbers as to persuade the survivors that the jihad’s not worth the price. But that doesn’t work either when their Koran has brainwashed them to believe that paradise comes after death.
Many Christians even the most devout spend their lives uncertain of their eternal fate (I’m one) and therefore govern their lives according to the L-rd’s mandate to do good and avoid sin and paramount to this belief is to love one’s neighbor as one’s self.
Not so for the Muslim. He is superior to all others. Jihad sanctifies his existence and the virgins are his certain reward.
