Perry’s collapse makes way for Christie and others?
WAPO ^ | 09/23/11 | Jennifer Rubin

Yesterday I wrote a vignette in jest suggesting what New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie might be yelling at his TV during the GOP debate. Unlike his alter-ego in my vignette, the real Bill Kristol did not call Christie to plead nor drive over to his house to urge him to get into the race. Instead he used his Web site , figuratively speaking, to run over Texas Gov. Rick Perry with an 18-wheeler and drive through Christie’s living room window:

With nine candidates on the stage, and answers restricted to one minute, it’s hard to really show your stuff. And two of the candidate — Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney — did provide respectable performances. But no front-runner in a presidential field has ever, we imagine, had as weak a showing as Rick Perry. It was close to a disqualifying two hours for him. Bill’s solution: “A big man for a big job.” And you know who that is.

Well, Perry will surely do well with the Hispanic vote.

Perhaps that is his aim.

The “Perry collapse” in the media template... so it will be reported far and wide, as truth is NOT an obstacle to the media narrative. Perry is frontrunner, so there was NO WAY he wouldn’t “suck” (in media mind). All media (Fox included) wanna be the king maker, so if any of the others ascend to “frontrunner” they’re collaspe will also duly reported. The REAL collapse is that of BHO... which is being reported (kinda) but oh so reluctantly!

Perry picked the absolute worst possible issue to be a RINO on- illegal immigration. Because long after the debates about this or that issue of the day have passed, we will STILL be dealing with the horrible consequences of not securing our border, with gang violence in our streets, a permanent underclass, etc.

And to compound that RINO stance by wagging his finger at those of us who want secure borders and calling us heartless- this guy has no business being the GOP nominee.

Yes, Perry is better than Romney. But that’s not saying a hell of a lot.

“Perry did not collapse. He was awful last night but he is still the most viable conservative candidate we have. palin CAN NOT win. Period.”

Stop worrying. There’s plenty more candidates besides the nine still in there.

Christie is NOT running. He might accept the VP slot and campaign for two months next year, but he’s not running for president no matter how much anyone may (or may not) want him to.

—Christie has his own problems doesn’t he?—

This is the problem with a lot of the nay-saying about ANY candidate. Whenever people in 2008 said Sarah was not qualified I said, “compared to whom?” It is all relative. Perry may be a poor conservative compared to someone like Sarah, but he is way more conservative than Romney or Christie. But then, just being conservative is not our litmus test. I’ve met plenty of conservatives sitting on bar stools, but that doesn’t mean they should be president.

Frankly, doing well in these debates doesn’t matter to me much either. A huge gaffe would matter, but it is the leaders opportunity to lose. They are only good for those that need any and all exposure they can get. I’ll have to review the video and see exactly what major error(s) Perry made before I can chime in on his performance, but the key is in that last word: Performance. Which is how I see these debates.

The only thing that can really come out of a debate that is of substance is for one of the candidates to screw up REALLY, REALLY bad in the old “is you is or is you aint my constit’ency?” thing from Oh Brother Where Art Thou. You remember, the “I belong to a secret organization. I don’t think I need to mention the name here” sort of thing.

Did Perry do anything like that? And deer in the headlights doesn’t really count. Stammering is WAY better than saying something just plain wrong or offensive.

“Perry did not collapse. He was awful last night..”

Perry will drop out in January and support Romney. His only purpose in this race is to take up space. He is doing what Pawlenty was supposed to do but failed.

Why do you say that? Why are you so closed minded about her? Because some deranged fanantics told you she can’t win? K

So, he isn’t a good debater. That doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be a good president. We’ve had enough of someone who supposedly speaks well and look at the mess this country is in.

Why are Americans so danged superficial?

he also took down the unions in NJ, fights the public union face-to-face, told obama and the transportation department to take a hike with their $500million tunnel and refuses to have anything to do with a millionaires tax...

sorry- it you’re looking for someone with no chinks in the conservative agenda you’re going to be hard pressed to find one...

Perry didn’t do a good job last night, but he had a bunch of “Nats” like Santorum and Bachmann taking shots at him as well as fending off the glib Romney. Because of this stupid 9 person Forumn, if I were Perry, I would try and cut a deal with Romney to go one-on-one. Romney probably wont go for that because as of now he has a supporting cast tossing rocks at Perry. The only guy besides Perry that I heard question Romney was Herman Cain on Romney’s refusal to overhaul the tax code.

—Perry is bad. Christie is worse.—

And Romney is worse than both of them.

So, as usual, when we vote next November we will not be voting for a candidate. We’ll be voting against one.

If being ahead by double digits is collapsing... then I hope Perry collapses in the general against Obama too!

lol

I’ve never seen so much made out of so little.

I hope Christie sticks to his guns and stays out of it. He should finish his job here in NJ. It’s not his fault the GOP bench is made up of scrubs and knaves.

Ithink it is time to get rid of all the Wannabees and just have debates with Romney and Perry. These forumns with 8 and 9 candidates are useless.

No.
