The Case for Buying Low on Perry
FiveThirtyEight ^ | 9/24/11 | Nate Silver

Posted on 09/24/2011 6:37:39 AM PDT by TexasFreeper2009

One misconception is that Mr. Perry’s standing had been declining in primary polls prior to Thursday evening. This simply isn’t the case, at least not to any degree of statistical significance.

You said: If it’s Obama/Hillary against a Perry/Santorum ticket, we might as well all move to Canada.

Sorry, but I just don’t go along with throw away lines like that. You want to move to Canada? Be my guest .. but don’t speak for “we”. As for myself, I am an organizer for the Tea Party in my area. I am going to stay and fight.

I have found, that the best way to enact change is from within. I have to deal with a lot of people who each have their own special interest .. they want to pull the movement into THAT direction.

Sorry, but I have no more patience with the threats about how they are going to “leave the movement” .. or “leave the GOP” .. or “leave the country” if they don’t get their way. A pox on the threats and a pox on the childish behavior.

I promise you I won’t throw myself on the floor, kick and scream, hold my breath, or get on my pity pot and make childish threats .. if the candidate who is chosen in the primary doesn’t agree with me on everything!!!!

I will keep my eye on Obama .. I know where the enemy is.

I agree, “he dropped the ball”. Although he appeared to be calm and collected, I suspect the pressure to “not make a mistake” and do good following his less than satisfactory first two appearances did him in.

It's too darned late as far as I'm concerned. Christy repeatedly said there was no way he would run and both he and Palin have lacked the courage to get their asses in these debates and be subjected to the same kind of scrutiny as the others.

If they hold out long enough, perhaps they think they can waltz in after the others have bloodied themselves to the point no one is electable.

This is a very dangerous precedent to be setting. This spectacle of a circular firing squad is disgusting.

What part of people don’t want Romney or Perry is it you don’t understand?

The new leader is Herman Cain.

Perry can’t hold his own amongst his own party.

It's not up to you.

both he and Palin have lacked the courage to get their asses in these debates

They had good personal reasons for not running that have nothing to do with a lack of courage. (btw .. using vulgar language is not a sign of maturity)

If they hold out long enough, perhaps they think they can waltz in

If the candidates running are not representing us well, they may feel compelled to come in. Of course they can come in late .. it happens all the time in politics.

This spectacle of a circular firing squad is disgusting.

Pretty extreme language .. can't understand why you are so frightened of GOP having a larger group to choose from.

If this group of candidates have to withstand this kind of scrutiny, why shouldn’t all of them? So we choose someone who has not gone though the same circular firing squad, how do we know they’re any different from the ones we have now?

Neither are newcomers to politics. We have a very good idea where Palin and Christie stand on the issues. I cannot imagine that you are suggesting that Palin has not faced the media firing squads .. or that Christie has not faced them as well .. he is fat you know.

I'm sorry, but I don't put any faith in the Straw Polls .. I basically ignore them.

I am not supporting, nor rejecting, any of the candidates out there right now. In the end, I will campaign for whomever is selected in the primary election because I do not want four more years of Obama.

No candidate has to agree with me on everything in order to gain my support.

You sound reasonable. I, too, want to defeat Obama and I will support whomever is the nominee. Yea, we think we know where they stand on the issues but they have not had to be subjected to the same kind of badgering the other candidates have and I have no idea how either one of them would perform in a debate situation like these folks have had to endure. Just wait until one of them becomes the front runner and see what happens to them and how they handle it.

That announcement came from Newsmax.com”

Other sources have picked it up, also...it’s not just Newsmax.

The Newsmax story was not reliable. Please take the time to read the article and determine for yourself if you want to accept the premiss. The article was based on unnamed sources .. Bah humbug!

Okay .. some other online sources picked up the Newsmax story. One or twelve places repeating an unreliable story doesn't make the story credible.

Now, it could very well be that Christie decides to run .. but I will need to hear it from a named, reliable source.
