Krauthammer declares Romney ‘most conservative candidate who can win’ thus far Jeff Poor - The Daily Caller 1 hr 21 mins ago

Although we’re some 14 months out of the 2012 presidential election, knowing who will be facing President Barack Obama is still up in the air.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry’a initial splash upon entering the field of Republican candidates garnered him a lot of attention and a bump in the polls, but some are saying that the luster has worn off. On this weekend’s broadcast of “Inside Washington,” Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer, who admitted he wasn’t sold on Perry, seems to be leaning toward former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.

“I think what has been said is correct — Romney is polished,” Krauthammer offered. “In the end, Republicans are going to have to decide whether they want authenticity or electability. And that is really where it is. I mean, it often is a choice. Democrats have had that in the past with Howard Dean and others. You often have to come down and say, ‘Which way are you going to go?’ Do you want the guy that you can rely on ideologically on everything or with the guy that might have a better chance of winning?”

And according to Krauthammer, Romney seems to have the edge when it comes to applying the so-called William Buckley rule.

I fear that Romney is exactly what we’re going to have. Ideologically, that’s pretty bad. However, it’ll be a distinct upgrade from Obama, obviously, and Romney is probably a more competent manager that we’ve had in the oval office for some time. Maybe that’s underrated.

You must think Irving Kristol, who proudly reaffirmed his dedication to a philosophy he called
“neoconservativism” in the last year of his life, was a “Paulbot” too but then, perhaps, you want to throw his memory under the bus.

Sir, I am a Texan and know Perry well. He is NO conservative. He is wrong on immigration, eminent domain, Pay to play, and many more. Of course you don’t need me to tutor you it’s all available online. He did do a few things right. As in tort reform but don’t give him credit for the job situation in Texas. It has had this atmoshere for a long time before Perry and the governor has very little power here. If Palin does not run (and I think she will)we are in big trouble. More of the same at a time we need a full reversal.

Krauthammer is great when he is evaluating liberals and eviscerating them verbally for their faults.

When he starts talking about Republicans and/or conservatives, he begins speaking nonsense because of his elitist beltway insider views.

“I’m tired of voting for the lesser of two evils.”

Me too. More than two solid decades of it now. I am done.

He will be a disaster.

I’m warning you all.

I don't believe anybody here needs a warning about Romney, with the exception of his die hard coreligionists, who for the most part have the good sense to keep their mouth shut about their support of him and their belief that he will be the fulfillment of "the white horse prophecy".

I can’t wait to see all the faces of those RINO establishment orators when Sarah not only enters the race, but wins the race all the way to the White House.

IT WILL BE A GREAT DAY!

I see a President Perry as being very good on: healthcare, taxes, spending, judges, guns, abortion, reducing business regulations, tort reform, the military, and social issues among others.

I see his primary weakness as: immigration. I'm wary of his use of executive orders, but he seems to have learned a lesson. I know the TTC was an issue that would have involved eminent domain, but I also realize that proposal did not go forward after conservatives expressed disapproval.

Rick Perry is not perfect. No candidate out there is, but he would be solid on most every issue I care about. He has also shown he both listens to and responds to conservative criticism.

He also would be better than Romney, and a million times better than Obama.

I know I won't convert you, and I'm not even trying to. Just realize that many conservatives are frightened about the primary options that exist if Perry does indeed fall by the wayside, as he appears to be doing.

Republicans are going to have to decide whether they want authenticity or electability

Electability is a qualification but authenticity is not? What kind of perverted logic is that? You could justify running anyone for President that way. It's how we got stuck with Obummer.

Charles, you have earned the.....

Fox news, along with the Dems continue to carry the water for Mitzy Romney. No difference between them and the rest of cable news media.
