EPA To Shut Down 20% of Coal Plants in 2012
Town Hall ^ | 9/24/11 | Helen Whalen Cohen

Posted on 09/24/2011 9:26:48 PM PDT by Nachum

This article is a few days old, but it is worth a mention nonetheless. Susan Kraemer at CleanTechnica can barely contain her excitement at the prospect of environmental regulations. In an article titled "Obama's EPA Cues 130 Billion Race to Cut Pollution By 2015", she reports that the EPA will shut down 20 percent of coal plants through the Cross-State Air Pollution Rule. (Snip) The EPA will shut down an estimated 20% of the nation’s coal plants through the ground-level ozone rule (the Cross-State Air Pollution Rule (CSAPR) ) through cap and trade that is about to be implemented in

Yes. America needs the cost of energy to "necessarily skyrocket". Thank you very much.

No. Actually. The EPA must be dismantled and abolished in 2012, immediately after ObamaCare is repealed.

Thanx for the ping AAC !

2012 needs to be the year the EPA is shut down. It is far more harmful to this nation than coal mines.

We all want a clean environment, but we should not have an out of control government agency shutting down power plants. That’s taking things way too far. How is it that bureaucrats have that authority in the first place? EPA should not have that much power. They should be reined in.

I won't be able to afford to run the lights in my house.

That's why "smart meters" are being installed.

I suspect they would if they could actually. I have no love for the EPA or for any of the bloated government agencies for that matter but I don’t care for pollution either. I think cutting all of their budgets back to FY 2007 levels is reasonable and far more acceptable to the average voter than completely eliminating them as some of my fellow freepers would recommend.Do you truly believe that eliminating the EPA entirely would be wise? It’s fun to blather about it on free republic but, in reality, does it take us where we want to go? I would rather put trout in my streams than dioxin sludge. Now, if you want to talk about defunding the welfare state, I’m all for that. Paying poor people to make babies is what got us where we are in the first place.

The simple fact that Zero is mandating his ecoStasi thugs to shut down - cold - 20% of our coal-based energy production in the next four years, with no viable, proven means of offsetting that reduction to the power grid, is an undeniable act of deliberate damage to our national infrastructure, and he should be removed from office post haste as an existential threat to the security and well-being of the Republic.

Will it happen? Hell, no. Not with the squirming pile of self-serving annelids we have infesting Capitol Hill. If we fail next November, you can write off the United States as a good idea that died by deliberately ingesting slow poison.

"But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: for men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away, for his name is Obama."

Obama promised to do this.

It’s about the only promise he will actually keep.

It’s a well known fact that it is good for a struggling economy to choke off cheap means of energy production. It’s for the children.

Ironic Alert: There is a coal fired electrical generation plant less than 2 miles from the US Capital on the Anacostia River.

The American people wanted this.

They voted for it.

They got it.

No people were ever more richly deserving of their own fate.

Suffer America.

Look into the mirror to find the source of your suffering.

Too bad nobody demanded a resume' or references before choosing his/her president.

Wisconsin coal-fired plants shut down by the EPA, just in time for winter snows; many residents freeze to death; Michael Moore says patriotic Americans will just have to wait longer for their heat; Wisconsinites forced to march with Obama to keep warm.

If I wrote what I think and feel about this POS, I would be banned from this site. God, I hope Americans get it right in 2012. EPA needs to go. Sure, we need to protect the environment, but not at the cost of freezing Americans to death. You can rest assured, the libs and DEMS won’t touch anything close to them. Nope, they’ll put the screws to the RED states - those who didn’t vote for their zero of a hero.

Bastards.

This summer, they ordered the temporary shutdown of a coal plant I worked at years ago. All because the cooling return water to the river was 1 degree higher than their arbitrary limit...

It was record heat/humidity at the time but the bastards still forced the shutdown until the cooling system was upgraded. The margins at these plants are very slim and sitting idle for so long wiped out almost two years of profits.

There was no rationality, arbitration or discussion. Pure totalitarianism all according to The One’s plan...
