A 54-year-old Saudi man was arrested in a first-class lounge at JFK airport outside New York City Friday.

Mohamed Hefni was apprehended after Transportation Security Administration agents spotted a stun gun and four other weapons in Hefni’s checked bag for a flight to Riyadh.

After TSA agents first noticed the gun’s outline during a routine screening, they opened Hefni’s package. Inside they discovered a fully operable battery-powered electric stun gun, three electric stun batons, an electric stun pen, and a large can of pepper spray, authorities told the New York Post.

Hefni’s lives in New York City and was arrested by Port Authority cops on misdemeanor weapons charges. The New York Times reports that Hefni was released Friday evening without bail, and a TSA spokeswomen told the Times that “We do not believe this was related to terrorism.”

Like it wasn’t a probe to see what terrorists might succeed in getting on board an airplane despite the gropemeisters?

Don’t worry, the feds are very busy busting the Amish for selling raw milk. The system works.

Technically it shouldn’t be a problem to have some, if not all of these things in a checked bag that can’t be accessed inside the secured area of an airport. Not a good idea to have pressurized pepper spray in the hold, because it could burst. But a taser minus its batteries would be unable to cause problems during flight.

Gosh, checked the TSA website, their FAQ lists stun guns as being permitted to be in checked baggage. However, stun guns are illegal in New York, as of course the 2nd amendment was suspended there... Probably illegal to import into Saudi Arabia, but permitted to bring with you for personal use (and likely restricted to only Saudi citizens..)

"agents spotted a stun gun and four other weapons in Hefni’s checked bag"

No big deal.

I’d love to get my hands on some, but it’s illegal where I live. Nappy Napolitano will take my kids away from me if I’m caught buying it. But don’t worry about all of the muslim men who’ve had issues aboard recent flights. Again, the system works. Just keep telling yourself that.

The French still have Milk Freedom?

Wonder what TSA does if a Frenchman puts raw milk in his checked baggage.

It wasn’t chiefly for the sake of the airport security, but the sake of New York that Hefni got in trouble. Some TSA goon, who is a Federal agent only, apparently thought it in the scope of his or her duties to help enforce state law to the letter. Otherwise there would be no reason to have mentioned the tasers.

Hefni lives in New York City. That explains why he wants to protect himself, from both crooks and Mayor Bloomberg The Stupid. I would too.

Just because he’s a Saudi is no reason to suspect him of anything rash - NOT!

It better be Halal-friendly French milk...no pigs within a 5-mile radius, to praise the pedophile death cult leader, Moo-hammed.

If it was in his checked bag, what’s the problem?
It’s not like he could get at it once it was in the baggage hold.

Now, if it was in his carry-on I would be concerned, but the article did not say that.

How dare the TSA be looking in his “checked” baggage — sounds like “racial profiling” to me. Somebody call the ACLU!!!!

Don’t forget busting those criminals for not putting the slow moving triangle on their buggies

Ok, let's think about this. This stuff was in his checked luggage, not carry on. There should have been no problem with it and I doubt it was a test since it would not have been readily available when he was on board. So future terrorist trying to smuggle weapons on in that way would be defeating their own purpose.

I believe such a big deal is being made out of this because the TSA is so inept they need some type of positive reinforcement of their image. Now they can cry, "Look we stopped a terrorist!", when in reality they stopped a person from taking these things back to his home country where he probably wanted to use them for self defense.
