Does your fifth grader know how to use a condom? They may soon learn if they go to school in Washington, D.C.
The District of Columbia Office of the State Superintendent on Education is pushing out standardized tests for sex education. The District takes its authority to administer sex education tests to fifth, eighth, and tenth graders from the Healthy Schools Act of 2010.
Here’s how it works: Children as young as 10 will be asked 50 questions. One of the questions reads: “TJ wants to remain abstinent, but also wants to know how to properly use a condom in case he is ever in a situation where he might become sexually active. Give TWO reasons why using a condom properly is important and describe THREE people or places that could give TJ accurate information about condom use.”
“The guideline questions necessitate age-inappropriate instruction for 10 and 11-year-olds. Previously, comprehensive sex education advocates would have the minimal—but insufficient—courtesy of allowing parents to opt their children out of their classes,” says Emmett McGroarty, executive director of the Preserve Innocence Initiative. “Now, parents are being informed that a non-mandatory class is being replaced by a mandated test.”
McGroarty argues that sexual decisions have serious moral and spiritual implications, and even comprehensive sexual education curricula openly acknowledge it. As he sees it, now is time to find solutions that empower parents to address issues related to STDs rather than undermining parental authority, meddling in admittedly spiritual decisions and imposing a one-size-fits-all test on local schools.
“As a man who was raised in inner-city Washington, I know that many District families believe that sex is more than biological—that it should be a full expression of committed, life-giving love,” McGroarty says. “Many families will be horrified that the District education establishment is demeaning sex-related education topics to the level of a standardized test.”
Is there a 5th grader in Washington DC public schools who could actually write out such a long and complicated answer, or who would bother sitting around to answer 50 questions?
As always, the problem is the lack of focus on educating young people and instead focusing on the continued dogmatic propaganda they try to force on children. And unsurprisingly, it’s producing really poor results.
What did you expect from those liberals? Anything that mainlines the alternative-”family” “gospel.” What, is this supposed to show up on their report cards too?

Yeah it does look like the system, as gagulous as it is, is also rigged to make it possible to say “we spent all this time teaching the latest sex education and the kids are STILL clueless!”
Since the DC Government and the School system has been run by a bunch of pricks since they started with home-rule, this is a logical consequence of their thinking.
I would love to tell them what to do with that cucumber, but they probably have already. It’s up there where the sun don’t shine, along with their heads.
You know your kid is in trouble when they come home and ask you to buy them a cucumber, and it’s not for lunch.
Yeah, “just in case”. Just wait and see the expression of the one who wrote that question if questioned about if “the proper use of a gun” will appear on the test, you know, just in case.
How long before kids in combat is ok?
That's a silly argument, I know. But if you replace just a few words you get this:
Would you want your 5th grade daughter getting HPV? She may be sexually active and doesn't want you to know. So what's wrong with someone else taking over your role as a parent and giving your daughter a vaccine to prevent it?
Really. All they can do any more if fill in a bubble. Sad. Too much testing.
Oh, and when they get bored with the test, they simply stop or randomly fill in bubbles. I've seen high school kids literally sleep until the last 10 min. when the time is called, then fill in their answer sheet.

That's what we knew about them in 5th grade. Thanks to the teachers union, the kids are now learning about other more sinister uses.
I wonder if this will show up as a question on the TV show “Are you smarter than a 5th grader?”
It used to be that the use of a condom among 5th graders was a felony--statutory rape and/or sodomy.
Now "proper use" anticipates these vile acts. And what you described--a water baloon--will most likely be considered a "weapon" and will result in suspension and a police record.
Perversion inversion.
This shift is profoundly evil. God still considers sexual activity outside of marriage a serious sin. And sodomite practice is still punishable by God with the death penalty--OT laws which do not relate to messianic fulfillment (see Hebrews 9) are still in effect.
We need some modern day Asa's or Josiah's.
That's aside form the issue of whether the government schools should be teaching sex at all.
