Vallejo public, police team to reduce prostitution

Six months ago, Vallejo was drawing hordes of hookers from all over the West. The then-bankrupt city's threadbare police patrols were overwhelmed, and citizens were furious at the yowling of pimps and streetwalkers hawking their wares 24/7 in once-quiet neighborhoods.

That was then.

Now the world's oldest profession is going broke.

Vallejo police and residents have squelched the streetwalker problem so effectively, relying heavily on security cameras and neighborhood watch groups, that most hookers have either fled town or turned to other work.

There’s a reason it’s the world’s oldest profession. If there weren’t the demand, the supply would dry up.

Pretty sweeping comment there. Maybe you should say some California cops are corrupt. You sound like a liberal calling names instead of showing proof. I know for a fact that California cops are not all corrupt. I’ve been married to one for over 40 years.

police corruption stories are in the news all the time, for example, san diego. for example the brutal murder in fullerton.

calling me a liberal is rude.

The working girls have most likely gone on-line. Why stand out in the street, when you can garner customers from the comfort of your La-Z-Boy sipping a pina colada?

I doubt they’ve gone away.....they’ve just changed their marketing/procurement strategies.

Implying all Ca police are corrupt is rude. You don’t know all of Ca police so you’re hardly in a position to claim that without proof. Do you have proof?

There was a big scandal here a few years ago when an escort service was busted and a federal judge showed up on the john list. One of the local TV stations discovered there is a website that connects hookers and johns locally. Wouldn't be surprised if that kind of thing is in lots of cities.
