Mitt Romney turns formidable
Mlive.com ^ | Sept. 25, 2011 | Matt Miller

"But the real question is: Does Governor Perry continue to believe that Social Security should not be a federal program, that it's unconstitutional and it should be returned to the states, or is he going to retreat from that view?"

In other words: Is my opponent an extremist who'd lead the party to ruin or a weasel who can't stand by his guns?

On the Texas economy, Romney said, "I think Governor Perry would agree with me that if you’re dealt four aces, that doesn't make you necessarily a great poker player."

Earlier Romney had sounded the same note, saying that Perry surely wouldn't take credit for Texas for having (1) no income tax; (2) lax union protections; (3) oil and gas in the ground; and (4) a Republican legislature. That would be like Al Gore taking credit for inventing the Internet, he joked.

So now you’re blaming Perry personally for the investment of Texas dollars into Countrywide?

Consider that financial advisors surely said it would provide a good ROI; just like such advisors did for the many thousands of other investors.

I don’t understand the twisted logic that blames Perry for the investment.

“Even Ron Paul was spinning during the last debate when he said his taxes had gone up since Perry has been Gov. There is no State income or property tax in TX. Paul’s taxes increased because the local and County tax rates were increased or because his properties increased in value. Perry has no control over those taxes.”

maybe Paul is dreaming of a reverse tax where the more money you make, the less you have to pay in taxes. That’s even beyond a flat tax without any deductions

And you trust Romney to do this? Have you looked up his record? Romney is well known as a flip-flopper. He has been for years and years. He says one thing, goes to the next stop and says the complete opposite. No one knows where he stands on anything because he constantly lies. Check with other Freepers. They know. That’s why they laugh at him.
We need a leader, not some mealy-mouthed ego driven politician.

It is good that someone is FOR Romney ... like you.

Otherwise, he would have to go back to the DNC.

This should become a Palin and/or Cain thread. Conservatives need to start thinking about doing what is right and quit worrying about which Republican might be able to defeat the Democrat.

Conservatives and Republicans have logged a lot of losses since 1992 because of that mind-set. And our country has been becoming more socialistic as a result of the simplistic thinking that any Republican is better than any Democrat.

I was prepared to embrace and support Perry.

Any objective observer would have to conclude he is a best a dud, at worst a confused unprepared inarticulate pretender.

Obama and his Billion would bury Perry.

Any of the other candidates can beat Obama...but not Perry.

While I don’t agree that any R is better than any D, I do agree that any R is better than Obama or Hillary.
That said, I don’t care at all for Romney or Perry and hope like hell that someone else is nominated.

Ask everybody to think about doing what is right. The people who do not recognize that Cain and Palin are the candidates who understand that the government is the problem and the solution is cutting government down to its two legitimate functions: keeping us from killing each other and keep others from killing us.

Government is about as far from rocket science as you can get. Only those ignorant of Austrian economics believe government can influence the economy in a positive way. Nothing can be farther from the truth. The only thing government can do to influence the economy in a postivie way is to remove the negative effects that it had already created. Keynsian economics is junk economics/science. The best possible thing that can happen to the economy is to strip government of all powers that influence the economy at all, apart from its two legitimate functions which secondarily work to prevent chaos and plunder. If there is any doubt, the answer to government is and must always be,

NO!

I found this article to indicate it will be a Romney vs. Obama election next year. If one goes to the actual article online to see the entire text, the author uses Perry only to demonstrate how Romney has bettered his play in the game and has become a formidable opponent to Barack Obama. (Romney has risen to the occasion.)

Personally, I was sickened by the esteem the author of the article placed on Romney, and I was astonished with the author’s assumption that our nomination process is already done, and the result is Mitt Romney.

Head case for sure. You two are the epitome of the PDS crowd. Get over it, your guy is a loser doing what he does best, You hit these threads and push Anyone But Palin like the only candidate who can beat Obama is Perry.

If Perry is the only one that can beat Obama then we have already lost the Republic, and you can take Texas and give it back to Mexico, which is where it is headed anyway.

Would seem more fitting for a vegetarian, don't you think? Besides you are used to them if you believe Perry is conservative.

“As far as the crow goes, I don’t eat meat.
Head case for sure.”

So you know what people should eat? Sounds pretty statist to me. Are you mentoring Michelle Obama when she tells us what we should eat?

Find ONE anti-Palin statement I've posted. You won't. What you will find are postings that state the woman and her family have been unfairly and disgustingly “Quayled”. That truth constitutes “PDS”?

What candidates, other than Perry have I pushed for POTUS? Two years ago I suggested Paul Ryan. That constitutes “Anyone But Palin”? Really?

You're as out of your mind as any Obamabot is.

Romney IS Obama just ‘white and delightsome’ to use a phrase Romney knows well.

He also thinks he is the fulfillment of prophecy. He’s a liar and a flip flopper who supports everything CONSERVATIVES oppose.

No real conservative would consider him, much less vote for him.

NO ROMNEY, NEVER!

He’s lying about his change of heart. He went from being pro choice to pro life once in 9 days, then he was back again. He has been taught to say anything to get what he wants.

Colo, I really need you to send me the the HTML for that chart so I don’t have to keep bugging you. :)
