The Federal Emergency Management Agency may have enough money to last until the end of the week, raising the possibility that Congress could avert a government shutdown by end of the day on Friday, according to Senate officials familiar with the matter.

FEMA officials have not yet commented on the matter, but three Senate officials told POLITICO that the agency signaled to Congress that its depleted funds could last through Thursday, and possibly Friday, which coincides with the end of the current fiscal year. FEMA was initially projected to run out of money as early as Tuesday.

Where is the House leadership saying that the democrats in the Senate care more about making half billion dollar bad loans to companies like Solyndra rather than helping flood victims?

At the local and state levels, the govt has been playing this game for years. Make sure essential services and education bear the brunt of any shortfalls in cash, then play it up to the masses. I am totally disgusted by all levels of govt in this country. That is true for anybody associated with it, from either party, and equally rationed out. If a person is within the structure, and is not loudly and strongly trying to change things, they are in the enemies camp.

Good. Shut down the real hogs, too: public education and other federal funding to debt-guzzling locals. We don’t need ‘em. We need production—not regulation, paid gossip and thieveries. Shut down pork in general, and get out of the way of Americans willing to work.

I'm in Louisiana. My home has never flooded and I am in a low risk area.

My State Farm flood insurance was $115 a year for the last 5 years. Then I was informed FEMA would be taking over ALL flood insurance in the state.

This summer I got the FEMA letter, hustling me for $298 to continue my coverage with a much higher deductible. It came with a hot pink return envelope and the usual hard sell scare tactics.

Screw FEMA. No way I'm sending them a dime.

I'm confused why would FEMA running out of money shut down the government?

I'm confused why would FEMA running out of money shut down the government? The left playing games again. Threaten to shut down government if they do not get more money for FEMA.
