President Obama's nominee for Commerce secretary served as chairman of the board of a solar energy company that recently received a $1.37 billion federal loan guarantee – the largest the Department of Energy has ever given for a solar power project.
Now that company, BrightSource Energy, is attempting to build the world's largest solar power plant amid concerns such ventures may be too risky an investment for the federal government.
In June, BrightSource Chairman John Bryson was nominated by Obama to head the Commerce Department.
WND reported in June that Bryson co-founded an environmental activist group that is a member and funder of the controversial Apollo Alliance.

Apollo is run by a slew of socialists and radicals, including Jeff Jones, a founder of the Weather Underground domestic terrorist organization. Jones himself boasts of doing work for the environmental group founded by Bryson, the Natural Resources Defense Council.
Bryson served until June as co-chairman of the Pacific Council on International Policy, a globalist organization whose members can be found throughout the Obama administration.
The massive loan guarantee to BrightSource is meant to build an expensive California desert solar plant known as the Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System.
The system will feature mirrors that reflect sun toward a massive central tower that is in turn heated to produce steam meant to spin turbines to produce electricity.
The size of the BrightSource plant is thought to produce enough power to meet the needs of hundreds of thousands of Californians.
During a national address last October, Obama mentioned the possible benefits of BrightSource Energy's "revolutionary new type of solar power plant."
However, some have doubted that the massive solar plant will actually work.

Most of its large-scale solar electricity production will presumably come from projects like the $2 billion Ivanpah solar plant, which is now under construction in the Mojave Desert in southern California. When completed, Ivanpah, which aims to provide 370 megawatts of solar generation capacity, will cover 3,600 acres — about five and a half square miles.
The math is simple: to have 8,500 megawatts of solar capacity, California would need at least 23 projects the size of Ivanpah, covering about 129 square miles, an area more than five times as large as Manhattan. While there’s plenty of land in the Mojave, projects as big as Ivanpah raise environmental concerns. In April, the federal Bureau of Land Management ordered a halt to construction on part of the facility out of concern for the desert tortoise, which is protected under the Endangered Species Act.

These posts described the grant of $1.37 billion to another solar energy project, a grant made by the Commerce Department without the supervision or approval of Congress and I would venture without particular knowledge of 90% of elected members of the House of Representatives.
The 2nd concerns the imposition of the "Fairness Doctrine" on the Internet by the FCC which has been aptly described by Freepers as a solution in search of a problem. This is been done not under the radar but in the teeth of much opposition in the house of representatives. No fair observer can fail to acknowledge that the sole purpose of this bureaucratic regulation, actually a rank grasping of jurisdiction over an entire industry which touches the life of every American, is to lay the predicate for control of speech.

The abdication by the Congress of the United States of its responsibilities to govern is approaching crisis proportions. Every attention-getting triviality is trumpeted by one legislator or another as he panders to his base but the very same legislators runs for the high grass when the potentially career wrecking obligation to choose tough options actually confronts them. So we have a Federal Reserve Bank which has recently announced that it has monetized 95% of the federal debt since June. We have no budget out of Congress, thus, in effect the responsibility for the American economy has been abdicated to the FED.
We cannot close a military base by action in Congress, Congress instead creates a commission. We cannot solve a debt crisis by direct congressional action, instead Congress creates a Super Committee to make the choices for our elected representatives and bear the backlash. We have somehow permitted a regulatory agency to tell businesses whether they can open the production facilities in one state, or whether they can hire more employees, or whether they must shut down for producing what we all exhale.
After the preamble The Constitution of the United States in ARTICLE 1, SECTION 1 begins to set forth the system of government with which we shall govern ourselves:
All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives. (emphasis supplied)
Please note the document is explicit, ALL legislative powers are vested in the Congress. Over the years the Supreme Court has countenanced the abdication of these powers from elected representatives to appointed and sometimes even unapproved bureaucrats. I have a right to be governed by people whom I can vote out of office. That is my constitutional right. It is typical of the accretions made by the Supreme Court which over centuries have brought us to the place where we are tyrannized by bureaucrats.
This practice is the product of an elitist presumption that democracy does not work and the people cannot be trusted with their own destinies, therefore, they must be benignly guided by elitists. Please note, many of the framers of the Constitution who met in convention in Philadelphia were certainly the elite members of the American Society but they never dreamed that they could impose a Constitution on their people without submitting it for ratification. More, they understood the need to explain this Constitution and undertook to write a remarkable defense of the document in the Federalist Papers. They accepted the need to further protect the people with the Bill of Rights.
How far we have departed from the Founders' model.
The only people they could get to clean those panels are on the other side of the border....well a few of them are still there.
