Tim, Liz and Bev Equals Moe Larry and Curly
Canada Free Press ^ | 9/28/11 | Arnold Ahlert

Remember the Three Stooges? Moe, Larry and Curly entertained a generation of kids with antics that were a combination slapstick comedy mixed with unrelenting stupidity. Most comedy today is much more “sophisticated.” So where do we find today’s Three Stooges? Inhabiting the government, or trying to. I present to you Exhibits A,B, and C—or if you prefer, Treasury Secretary Timothy “Moe” Geithner, Massachusetts Democrat Senate candidate Elizabeth “Larry” Warren, and North Carolina Democrat Gov. Bev “Curly” Perdue.

What an insult to the Three Stooges.

A few years ago I read a very insightful article about the Stooges in which the author - whose name I cannot recall - said that as kids we love Curly because he is silly and childlike. As teens we identify with Moe because he is exasperated as the boss who is never really obeyed very well. But as adults, we identify with Larry because he is gentle and just wants everyone to get along.

I always thought Rodney Dangerfield would have made a great Stooge. Born twenty years too late.

He was also the best cross-dresser of the three. He played the part to the hilt!

Hands off the Stooges, Arnold Ahlert. The Stooges were the greatest slap stick comic team ever. They were great no matter when you grew up.

Even as a kid, I found the Stooges about as funny as a toothache. I never could understand the attraction of their schtick, but millions do and they enjoy it.

I guess I'm just slapstick mindless inane violence for its own sake-impaired when real people are involved.
